50e cabin heating
I know with USA temps skyrocketing it's hard to think about cabin heating, but I'm wondering if the 50e uses exclusively a heat pump for cabin heating or resistive heating (or both). Anyone know for sure?
I think I read the 45e used resistive only (no heat pump or ICE heat recovery).

The PHEVs do NOT have a heat pump in their current iterations. When I had an i3 (a BEV), while optional in some markets, all US vehicles DID have a heat pump.
Basically, all cabin heating is via electrical resistance cables. If it can use some engine residual heat, that path is a little obtuse. This is one reason why you can precondition the cabin without needing the ICE to run with the PHEVs. |
