changing to the winter set

I live in Alberta. The old man winter tends to show up a lot earlier than the rest of the continent. I am planning on switching the current summer tires to the winter ones. Does anyone know what the torque setting is for the wheel nuts?

Thanks in advance,

It's in the "mobility" section of your vehicle manual, but it's 101 lbs ft / 140 Nm.

I still have about a month before I have to swap mine as well, but I no longer have access to a garage with a post lift, so I have to buy a floor jack and stands.

Do you mind sharing how you're doing the swap? Never done it without a post lift.

Stands are necessary if the car is going to be spending a lot of time in the air, and you're going to be underneath it.

For a tire swap? Just get a floor jack, and a few cheap BMW jack pads on ebay

you are right. I do not think the stands are necessary for this kind of a job. I am planning on just jacking each wheel, unbolt, swap and screw back on the bolts to the right torque. I will look into the BMW jack pads for sure. Thanks for the tips.

Speaking of the BMW jack pads, can you recommend one?

Thanks

Thanks! I think I've been reading too much about people wanting to swap both front and back on one side at the same time, and thought that was normal.

I bought my jack pads from turner before they had them on Amazon. Works great. I don’t use stands to switch bc each wheel is only up in the air a few mins. But I’d recommend floor chocks so it doesn’t roll. Unlikely but you never know.
