But it's really not an M at all. It's just marketing.

Oh how I wish the F95/F96 forum would secede from the main G05/G06 forum already (and G07 combined into G05/G06). It was a major error by admins to combine the two. Having to see this elitist drivel and the blind-leading-the-blind "technical" discussions that have long been ironed out in the experienced main forum is irritating to say the least. And unfortunately I do have to see this due to how I read Bimmerpost through the app using New Posts feature. A thread or forum ignore feature would work too, but doesn't exist. Grr.

3 series all share same platform but you have many models or versions each with their own recipe of parts. This is same with 4 series and the X5 or X3 ect... Example would be X5 40i carries the inline 6. M50i is TT V8 N code motor and the X5M/Comp TT V8 S code motor. You can do the same for suspension driveline ect.... the list goes on. Things like this is why you see others letting people know you are post on the wrong forum when its not the shared model. Simple makes it easy to get wrong part number or advice because others are asking about the wrong version of the platform. Some take it a bit far and others simple helping OP's reach the correct location. Its the story end of time just like an oil thread of which is best to use.. LoL

So what's up with the X5? Just a different engine & suspension? i.e., are the G05 and F95 truly different vehicles like the M3, or just the same platform with upgraded components? As an example, the engines sound similar: • M50i: N63B44T3 4.4 L V8 twin-turbo 523 hp @ 5,500–6,000 rpm; 553 lb⋅ft @ 1,800–4,600 rpm • X5M: S63B44T4 4.4 L V8 twin-turbo 591 hp @ 6,000 rpm (comp +26hp); 553 lb⋅ft @ 1,800–5,860 rpm So different engine, though on paper not hugely different (maybe only tuning!!) - in an M3 the caveat would be *and with 7 coolers so it can run all day in 100℉ ... and that's a HUGE performance difference even for the same HP, which it isn't. So trying to get a sense of what the X5M is bringing to the table over the M50i ... is it the S63 + suspension or are there other mechanical advantages / differences?

I see what you are asking. Yeah I don't have a list for sure but what you are stating about the M3 yes the X5M is in the same boat here. Added cooling for sure, tunes yes, engine components are not shared ect. But a compare list no I don't have that. I would guess one could go to an OEM parts web page and create one if they wanted to know for sure. Just open to windows and compare section by section.

Let's not forget the different exhaust hardware, additional chassis bracing and cooler seats

I found this thread via a Google search: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1777765 Are you thinking about picking up a F95? It's worth the price of admission👍
