X5M 5.0 on order!

Long time BMW guy and M especially. Currently in an '18 M5 as my DD and Wifey in a '19 X7 4.0 w/ the M-Sport package. With one year left on our X7 lease, she is at 46k on the clock, which is 4k short of off warranty! The lion share of the miles, was for the oldest of my daughters, who has major B'dway aspirations, which knock on wood are cranking. My other daughter's artistic nature, is less demanding and my son is mostly sports, which I handle in kind. We intended to downsize vehicle wise, since wifey had had since '08, a new Escalade, 3 GLS' and now the X7 to accommodate the whole fam dam. Now that the oldest is 16 and has a junior license, last week we got her a new GLA. Therefore it is time and coincidentally my guy contacted me about an April promotion. So I am getting a year early out of the X7 and getting into this new X5M 5.0 which is $9k more MSRP wise!
He's being told by Spartenburg, that it's a 4 week turn around, which he said means at least 5. Any thoughts / latest experience?

Congrats!

FYI there is no 5.0 model. It’s X5M and X5M Competition. Then there is also a X5 M50i. All with a 4.4L Twin turbo V8.

Based on the build in his link, he ordered an X5 M50i. This thread really doesn't belong in the F95 forum.

Hey All, yes I realize it's not full blown M and it's the entry level M50i. Also, the 5.0 was a typo. Thanks for the concern though! Full blown M w/ 600hp I think is way too much for wifey, who is a very fast driver. I am concerned as it is w/ the 530hp, but wifey gets what wifey wants!

If I am in the wrong forum apologies, but doesn't this belong here? I only see the regular X5 forum other than this one, so am I missing something? IMO, it's an M, not an X5 M sport w/ bolt ons. I've owned plenty a full blown M, since my first back in '99, w/ my E36 M3. Nowadays, Motorsport has really expanded it's realm. Such as in the "M" 5 series line, which starts w/ an M550i, M5, M5C and finally the M5CS.

Yes they are I drove one before I bought the M a couple of weeks ago. It was for my wife but she likes sports cars and I like trucks and big HP Vettes (748 RHP not crank C7 Z06 internal work). The M50I is a very nice ride but more like a luxury car. The M for both of us is a much better fit from seats to ride control and HP.

Opinions aside, BMW calls latest gen X5M - F95 platform, and all the other X5's, M50i included, G05. This matches with the forum names.

In this thread:

X5M 5.0 = X5 M50

I don't have any experiences, but I'm reading from many sources that it's a tremendous driver

Thanks but Really? I find that odd honestly, this vehicle was truly worked on by M.
Curious, Is it built on the same line as the X5M or is it on the main X5 assembly line? Mine is being built in Spartenburg, are all the other X5M models built in Germany, like the M5, etc?

Aside from the obvious differences on paper, you'll also be remiss to think these are the same cars when buying most aftermarket performance/exterior parts.

The sections in websites do not include both m50i and x5m's while trying to buy most performance parts. It's either g05/6 or f95/6.

Forums are a lot of aftermarket talk no? And the kinds of issues f95 owners and parts in these threads will have 0 relation to what you'd possibly be buying in the aftermarket, for your g05?

They are all built in Spartanburg on the same lines. All x3 x4 x5 x6 snd x7 are built in Spartanburg.

I'm sorry about how you feel however this is not a matter of opinions & emotions. Your brethren who have the same car as your wife are plentiful in the G05 subforums. They truly seem like extraordinary folks. To me, the cat's meow is seeing quite some impressive builds too over there.

X5 M50i's are amazing rides, heck I have an G30 M550i too. Hope you can see the awkwardness of me trying to justify association & conjuring up strong parallels between a G30 M550i and an F90? Within the F90 forum, which I bet you're a part of. This may very well be underscored when trying to gain knowledge for G30 ECU tunes, exhausts, downpipes and anything of the such from within the F90 boards.

No emotions here gents! Just gathering info, it's wifey's car, so I didn't dig that deep into research as far as chassis codes, etc. She was adamant on an M, so I knew the least powerful of the X5s that wear the M badge is the 50i
