OK, that was quick. My X5 is now in Quality Check phase.
Ordered 3/5, Production begins status on 3/7 and sat there for over a week. Didn't check over the weekend, and when I checked yesterday, it had gone from Production begins to Entering assembly line. Now this morning, it's in Quality check, so it zipped through assembly yesterday. Last edited by frank19x5; 03-19-2019 at 07:11 AM.. |

Good to hear. So they have resumed laser lights then.

I think the laser light issue only affected Canadian builds, didn't it? Some people said it really wasn't a stop but rather offering a credit to remove it from a package. I could have missed some info though concerning US orders.

BMW is apparently fast tracking my X5. It's now in Awaiting carrier assignment. The interesting thing about that is that I'm picking it up at the Performance Center over a month from now.

My sales person was able to send me a print out of the status of the shipping of my car this morning. The information includes the date it departed on Norfolk Southern and the date it is expected in Oxnard California. There is a bill of lading number. The number is mostly numbers with a couple of letters (Different format than I saw a few years ago). In total it is 15 digits with a final suffix of -OX. I called the Norfolk Southern Automated system and selected tracing. After some trial and error I figured out that entering the number with voice does not work so I entered manually. I also found out that it only wants the last 7 digits EXCLUDING the OX. So a bill of lading number looks something like this: 1234567SP123456-ox So I omitted the OX part and entered the number 7 for the "P"and the following digits for a total of 7 digits. The system then responded with the number I entered but added an S to the front of it. It then reported that the train departed "moundville alabama scanner" at 10:00 am today. Often the location will sound obscure and hard to understand. In my case I did a search for Mountville Alabama and discoved that Moundville is actually the city name. As I recall, when it passes Dallas TX, Southern Pacific takes over. Back in 2015 when I tracked a car the Norfolk Southern system continued to work even after Southern Pacific took over. Once it gets to Oxnard, it can become a little less clear since the train car has to get onto a local siding that can cause some delay for a day or so and the ability to track it may be limited. I hope this helps some other West Coast folks (and Southern US folks west of the Mississippi since I think your cars go by train too). Last edited by peter11; 03-19-2019 at 12:01 PM.. |

The screenshot my dealer sent me yesterday not only had the bill of lading number which I used to track the train but also status bubbles that turn green as each step is completed (arrival at vpc, departure on train and arrival at the vpc in oxnard). They should share this with you. I dont think you can call Oxnard. Perhaps you can at least get the bill of lading number so you can confirm if Norfolk Southern has the status. Bottom line though. Someone should help you if it is this late. Call the general manager of the dealership and explain your frustration with the lack of transparency. Someone knows where your car is.

Call the genius line and find out what week your build is scheduled for. You will sit in the scheduled for production status until your dealers assigned build week comes up.

Using the info on this thread, I tracked Norfolk Southern with the Bill of Lading #. The status is "It is in storage hold in Oxnard CA as of Mar 13" .
Folks, is it normal to lie in storage for a week? My dealer in in Mtn. View, CA. |

March 05 - Shipped from port of exit
March 07 - Kentucky March 12 - Wisconsin March 21 - Vancouver, BC!!!! Finally its arrived. Just have to wait for it to be off-loaded from the train and be inventoried / allocated to the dealership. CA says the car carriers wait for a full load before heading to the dealership so I am hoping I am the last one they were waiting for, and not the first. 11 weeks since I ordered. Going to be at least 12 by the time I pick her up. |
