Hi Guys,

Been searching the forum for an answer on these but can't seem to find it so..... If you fit these puddle lights (specifically the ///M logo) to the rear doors do they project on top of the welcome "stripes" when the door is fully open? Or do they look similar to the front door and project clear of the welcome lights?

Cheers guys.

Just try to see where the original puddle door light shines and you will get your answer.

I am pretty sure it will be on top of the welcome stripes. Only the front ones will be in front of the welcome stripes

They will certainly overlap the stripes. See attached picture with front led projectors only. Even the front projectors get close to the stripes.

Having tried to force mine in, I broke the plug connector into which the puddle light attaches.

Any idea in the part numbers to replace that and how much labor?

I did these on my F15 and it was a piece of cake. Don’t get why this is turning out to be a cluster

seems u didn't read earlier posts... it's been found these newer versions (63-31-2-468-386) are slightly bigger than the ones that come from factory, so a bit of trimming is involved to get them to fit. dumb move on BMW's part. they discontinued the older versions (62-31-2-414-105) that easily popped into the G05.

Wrong the older version doesn’t easily pop in either, at least on my G05.

ugh yes you're right! WTH they sell two versions that don't even fit and not the ones that do fit (the ones from the factory)?

I'm tempted to try to fit the new overlays into my original projectors.

I just installed set of OEM's into my X5, however with the BMW roundel projection is slightly blocked off by portion of the door painted area. The M project doesn't do this because the M emblem is smaller in that vertical direction. I don't have my car here with me or I would take picture. Does anyone have the BMW Roundel installed that has same issue??

On my X5 a portion of the "B" is blocked by the painted area of door. Yes is did have to slightly trim the black trim hole to fit snap it in but on X5 there is some sort of anchor bolt which is slightly touching the projector housing. But I okay with things.

63-31-2-468-386 is definitely a wrong part of G07, I can not speak for G05. People who manage to push it in with the M logo will not see any issues since the door projection will not be cut off. The inner housing of this projector is a bit larger and it hits one of the body plastic part inside the door. See the image. When tightly pushing it in, it slightly tilts the projector inwards and BMW logo projection is obstructed by the door.

If this protruding plastic could be trimmed such that it no longer hits projector body do you believe it would go back to a normal position so that image is projected correctly???

Possibly, I am not going to even try to trim the plastic protruding that is inside the door body

I may be the only one on the forum that has done both X5 G05 and X7 G07 doors with projectors.

I can confirm the original oem projectors DO fit without any modification required to the door or light housing. They snap in tight, but they do fit. The projection is not cut off by the edge of the doors.
I have done all four G05 doors and all four G07 doors and two M2 Comp doors without any problem. I believe my X7 M50i took a total of 15 minutes to do all 4 doors.
I think the latest OEM projectors that are dark grey in color are the ones that have issues. The all clear plastic OEM projectors are the only models I use because they fit every model.

X7M50i. The G05 X5 looks exactly the same fitment.

I trust you. I will post an update once I receive the older clear plastic one and will be able to update the thread having direct experience on both models

The key is to align the slide the way you want in the projector before you pop them in. I hold the housing up with the wires connected to know aprox how the letter ”M” is on the garage floor. It helps to do this in a garage in low light. For them to fit, I slide one side of the light all the way in against the door trim, then rock the other side up like closing a door. It’s tight but it will pop in flush. I wouldn’t want to pull them out so that’s why I say get the slide oriented how you want it before popping the housing in the door. Notice how I use the bottom of the open door as my alignment line with the “M” letter.

Finally got the part 105 from eBay. So yeah it does go in my G07 with the trimming very easily. But for some reason it does not fit in completely. It is probably the same body plastic part blocking it. But this at least fits in.
Not sure if the one I got are faulty, but the projections are not 100% looking right. It seems stretched out and looking disgusting like a double chin :/

Yeah, sorry to say, others have bought projectors off eBay, and they ended up discolored lights and looking funny. Best to buy straight from a BMW source.

If that pic is from your drivers door, looks like you have it reversed. My projector is on the right hand side and fits in flush with no trimming. I also bought from the eBay link posted here.

I am pretty sure, I tried both of the projectors on the driver’s door and they both did not go in fully

I didn't mean swapping drivers and passengers side. I meant did you try flipping it around.
