Kinda crazy to think that since most of us know each other only by our screen names, how would we ever know if tragedy struck? All of a sudden someone just stops posting and disappears.

I've thought about this before as well. We are an odd group personalities. Even more bizarre is that some of us have become closer than others and in reality, we know nothing more about each other than what we post on here. Aside from a few of the members here, I must say, the majority of us seem to be level-headed, transparent individuals/online personalities.

On the other hand, have you ever noticed how WalMart is laid out inside and even their parking lots? Lots of good places to take cover because the aisles are not parallel. That means also lots of ways to work your way out a back exit without the shooter seeing you. Might want to scope it out next time you’re in the local WalMart (or any other store) so you have an exit plan in mind.

This is something I learned from my father and have instilled into my daughter. No matter where you go, have an escape plan.

I apologize as this post is not to take away from the very real seriousness of this topic.......but a gunfight? Considering Wal-Mart being.......Wal-Mart and their typical patrons, taking advantage of everyday low pricing, I'm actually surprised there are not more gunfights at Wal-Mart.

To be serious here though, this is ridiculous. As human beings and from a societal stance, are we regressing? Are we so far gone that we simply can't accept that someone has varying opinions/lifestyles and simply walk away if we do not agree?

I foresee our country becoming 1/2 wild western movies & 1/2 futuristic, problematic, sci-fi movies where we have created technology that hates us more than we hate each other.......sprinkled with random scenes from the movie Idiocracy. We're doomed.

There's way more active shooter incidents than get reported on national news I think there were over 300 this year so far.

My understanding is that to be a mass shooting there have to be 4+ victims and the total excludes drug crimes, gang violence and domestic (family) violence. So the actual number using 3+ and all categories is over 350 but the “mass shooting” number will probably be below 100 this year, in the USA. I believe this is the definition used by Washington DC statisticians, but also very similar if not identical to WaPo I believe.
