I was driving my 2024 X5 today and stopped at the grocery store on the way home. When trying to get back in my vehicle, the digital key wasn't working and neither was NFC. The phone wouldn't let me in the car at all. I looked at my phone and there was a Samsung Wallet window open, but I could't close it. My grocery bag was starting to tear as I'm fumbling trying to get in the vehicle.

Luckily I was prepared and had the NFC card in my wallet.

Once home I rebooted the phone, but I have not tried if the digital key is working or not. I've had the UWB stop (dk+) working before, but never the NFC on the phone.

Moral of the story: Always keep the NFC card in your wallet just in case! That is if you don't carry a key fob.

I love my Samsung phones, this one is an S23. BUT Samsung pay or wallet are NO NOs for me. That is way too risky for me, I like to keep my bank account balance on the positive side. 😊

Samsung Wallet is necessary for digital key plus though. I still don't use my phone to pay for anything.
