Seating options - comfort vs sports

The 40i I have ordered has the sports seats in Vernasca ivory white - I understand the comfort seats/multi contour seats have more electric controls and the headrest cushion can be manually folded.

Apart from this is the structure of the seat the same and is the cushioning similar when you sit (there were no sports seats for me to test)?

Any input is much appreciated!

The seat design is different.

The standard sport seats have prominent side (electronic adjustable) and thigh bolsters - great if you like that sporty feeling - apologies can't find a better way to describe it. I find them a pain to "roll out" of given the height of the X5.

Personally, multi-contours fit a greater range of body sizes and are very comfortable. There's a little less thigh bolster but enough to keep you in the seat during spirited driving. The cushioning is similar and leather upgrades will also add to overall seat comfort eg Vernasca to Merino - It's the best $750 upgrade you can make.

A big +1 on the multi-contour comfort seating. Very comfortable. We had the Sports seats in our X3... the multi-contour seats on our X5 are a big step up in comfort. Very glad we got them.

love the multi-contour. the best part for me is that the upper half of the back articulates independently. i love having it all the way forward so i can rest my upper back/shoulders on drives

One thing I noticed was the variation of lumbar support -
US and Aussie seem to get lumbar support with base sport seats whereas UK doesn't. bit frustrating tbh...

Worst decision I made was to stick with the sport seats - I loathe them. No matter what, I cannot get into a comfortable position, especially long drives. The right thigh bolster digs into my leg and is intensely uncomfortable. BTW, I am 6’ 185.

I've got the Sports seat in mine, and yep can confirm lumbar support.

But less controls overall.

I had the comfort seats in the F15 X5, and found them comfortable, maybe too comfortable (if there's such a thing?!?!?). I found myself "sliding down" the seat too often.

Decided to go the Sports seats in the G05 - came standard with the M-sport package anyway. I really like the prominent sides that are electronically adjustable. I've got a lean build and I'm only 5'10", so the Sports seats wrap around me well and I'm held in position.

I do find the Sports seats A LOT firmer, hopefully they soften a little with time (most leather seats do...) - anyone had any experience with them over the longer term?

I also have sport seats Vernasca Coffee leather on my G05. Initially I thought they were not comfortable but I think over time they become a bit less rigid and contour to your shape better. I recently did a 2x8hr road trip and didn't find them uncomfortable. Though the thigh extension as others said feels a bit weird when you extend it.

I have the 2024 X5 and have taken the car in twice to have the seats looked at. The thigh bolsters dig into my leg. I assume I can switch the seats out?

I had a pre LCI 30d MSport G05 with comfort seats and I now have an LCI 50e MSport with sport seats and I prefer the new sport seats, they aren’t as firm as the sport seats in my wife’s iX3 M Sport Pro, they are definitely softer and closer to the comfort seats than you’d expect. They aren’t as “slidey” as the comfort seats, they are nice and supportive.

I also hate the sport seats, same complaint about the thigh bolsters, super uncomfortable the way it digs into the leg, I feel it every drive and it's always uncomfortable.

Man, I gotta believe that that would be so expensive to swap out that you’d be better off just trading in for a brand new one.

Personally I find the multi-contour sport seats to be amazing, but I suspect that being 6’ and 160 lbs helps with that. I have these seats dialed in perfectly and can drive for hours.

My preference is sport seat over multi-contour comfort seat. Comfort level is about the same for me, I like the fact I don’t slide around in sport seat due to bottom and back bolster.

Anyone swap out the sport seats for the comfort seat in a G05 X5?

I have just gone from comfort seats to M electric sports seats and the sports seats are as comfortable if not more comfortable.
