Traffic Camera information on X5

Does anyone has an idea about what is and what does the Traffic Camera information on X5 do?

With a new vehicle, you have a 90 days (correction) to see if it works. For me, it never worked at all.

in my limited suburban local travels, the Traffic Camera app has warned me of several red light camera intersections

It displays when there are automated traffic cameras on the HUD. Has been working well for me.

you can choose to display the warnings on either the HUD or instrument cluster

In US, the app is free for the first 3 months. After that, you have to subscribe through Connected Drive store.

It uses a database containing information on traffic camera locations as well as fixed and mobile radar sites.

Here is an article with some more information:

It works but I don’t drive like a complete fool to make it worthwhile

Also, I keep getting an alert on on stretch on the 110 freeway near USC but it’s for an intersection that is above the highway.

Warnings for speed cameras would be helpful but those I don’t think are used all that often in cali

I have recently subscribed to it in the UK and it works well and worth the money at £20 a year. I have the display pop up on my HUD and gives good notice to impending cameras. Just go to Connect Drive to subscribe.

Thanks - I was wondering how well it works over here. Just subscribed this morning but haven't tested (driven the car) yet.

I also subscribed in the UK and got it at the sale price of £14, bargain.
Apparently in the US they get it on the car for 3 months and then subscribe. Not sure whether it shows mobile cameras in the UK but well worth buying although I wish it had a beep when approaching a camera as if you don't look at the head up can be missed.

As an alternative to this I get the same notifications in Google Maps and I believe Waze shows these as well for anyone looking to not spend $$$ on this.

I find it works well on the HUD without the warning noise (that would drive me mad with the number of cameras in my area) and the notification is quite large on the HUD display so don't normally miss it
Must say it works a treat on the M25 highway

You can use Android Auto on your iDrive if that's what you mean by X5 Screen, those apps also alert you about speed cams/red light cams and moving speed traps as long as you set your route. Benefit of BMW is that it notifies you even if you don't have an active route set.
