Newbie: Missing 12v accessory plug?

Hi all, sorry if this question has came up before but a search didn't come up with anything..... Anyways, I just purchased a 2021 X5 and I noticed there a rubber cover over the 12V accessory power socket. Is there a reason for this?? Can't seem to remove it easily.

Buzzzzar! I have a '21 and it has the socket, I've never seen one without it. Must be someone removed it and filled the hole with that rubber stopper. I do know that BMW used a 12v socket that was too deep for a lot of older power adapters to work, the center (positive) pin on the adapter would not reach the bottom of the socket. BMW had a service bulletin out on it where they would replace the socket but I've never seen or heard of your situation. Take it back to where you bought it and show them and get it fixed. Also, check to see if you have one in the rear HVAC area and on the right side of the cargo wall. Check them with whatever power adapter you have to see if it fits and works.

Once you get it out, I believe this is the part number for BMW's replacement plug 61349316116. Nice and cheap. I've had to buy a few over the years.

I don't think that's the OP's issue, from looking at the pic they posted it appears the entire power receptacle is missing, not just the plastic cap, and someone plugged the hole with a rubber plug.
