VIN number: why is it a confidential information?
Good afternoon,
my new X5 finally entered in status 150 three weeks ago. I called the the dealer to ask for the VIN number. He confirmed it is available but it is a confidential information it cannot share. Now, we can accept that from Europe we cannot check the status given the BMW 7 digit order number (old thread here: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2030844), but why is the VIN not shared as well? ...anybody able to look it up for me, can PM me? |

pM me your short one and I’ll sort.
Also, it’s a BMW AG thing, they class it as personal information under GDPR( I personally disagree with this as you still can’t identify someone without a secondary piece of info …. ). However, as it identifies YOU, you are entitled to know that information under the law. Threaten them with a subject access request |
