On the 45e/50e there is no upgrade to the front brakes with the tow package as they are already bigger.

I think it is state to state depend. In Cali, the list only contains BEV, PHEV or H2. They call it zero emissions vehicles or transitional zero emissions vehicles. None of the non plug in hybrid qualifies.

This was a private employer situation so no state rules came into play. My company checks the VIN to determine the vehicle model in question, and then checks the fueleconomy.gov site to see if it's listed as a hybrid.

All of the MHEVs seem to be listed this way--all X5s show up as generic 'hybrids', including the X5MC.

I can't recall and I'm sure you will TurtleBoy. With the 50e are the stock brake disks the same size as the M brake upgrade?

The front discs are the same size as the tow hitch upgrade which are 374x36. The MSport brakes are 395x36.

Ah, in that case I would recommend the MSport brakes if you drive in the mountains much. The 50e is heavy and people can't drive in the mtns for shit so you have to hit the brakes hard sometimes. A bit more disk could help.

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t get too caught up on this whole business about massage seats make the seat firmer. It’s a complete nonsense. I was told the same but just ignored the barking. The seats are very comfortable with the massage function.

I would definitely choose to get the factory hitch even if it is just for your bike. Once you get use to a bike rack you’ll never go back to messing about sticking it in the trunk.

Totally agree on both counts.

Frankly, coming from American cars, the tow hitch should be standard. I'm fine with having tow tech packages, but the hitch should be standard, at least on PHEV and V8 models.

And yes, I'm extra sour about it because my CPO didn't come with it, and now I'm looking at $1500 plus to install the stealth hitch, lol.

I’m also undecided on my build, I see some of the changes for the MY25 but I like to re-do my build once is up and running in the BMW website.
So far:
21in wheels
HK upgrade
Black with Coffee and open pore wood
Running Boards (my wife wants it)
I did see that now the LED lights are not standard.

I really wanted to add the DAPP but on the 2024 build it adds two pkgs making it $5,300.00. I am hoping the MY25 re-shuffle's that to make it cheaper to add.

Also wish you could add the red calipers on their own.

Not getting the M PKG, I have it on my i4 but it make a big difference on the i4, not so much on the X5. I think it looks better with the 21” wheels.

Charging at home with solar panels and my wife’s work free charging, so it makes sense for us to go for the plug-in.

Whatever you do......get the DAP especially if you spend any time at all on limited access motorways, freeways, interstates, etc. It's a game changer!

Thanks everyone.

I will add Climate, Tow, Massage to my initial build above.

One final question - on finish, I'm assuming the Anthracite Matte is the most understated.

I’d get the DAP. Otherwise, you’ll regret it and it will effect your eventual resale value.

Is there a list of the packages on BMW's website somewhere or do you have to do a build to figure out what they mean? I'm curious as to what the Climate package ( other than the standard) is since I don't see it on my window sticker.

If you can go to a dealer and see examples of each, I'd highly recommend it.

The online builder does a decent job of mocking up the overall look with color and seat coverings, but it's really hard to convey the texture and sheen of the trims through a screen.

You can check the pricing guide but in your case it is because the Climate Package was not available in MY21.

LED lights have always been standard on the G05. For MY25 the 552's are the standard lights rather than being optional.

For DAP you need to get the Premium or Executive package as well as the Parking Assistance package.

We got the tow package just for a bike rack and used it this week. It's actually less expensive than retrofitting AFAICT, recommended. Depending on the bike rack you can get a hitch adapter that extends the bike rack out just enough that you can open the rear doors without hitting the bike rack which makes it way more convenient.

The only issue with tow hitch in G05 is it removes kick opener for tailgate. I use this feature a lot and from my point of view, X5 is not a proper vehicle for towing or even for mounting a bike rack. Sooner or later you will scratch your rear door with either a bike or a rack, which you will regret. Not to mention carrying a bike inside. Better buy a truck for such tasks.

+1, the tow hitch removes the kick free tailgate functioning. That's something I really find useful especially after having it in my CRV

I had the kick free on my X3M and used it a few times but wasn’t a reason to not get the tow hitch on my M60i.
FWIW on options I went all out because I wanted a bit of this and a bit of that and didn’t want to miss out on Anything. No regrets and love the car after 1,500 miles. I was on the fence on the B&W sound but it is freaking amazing - exceeded my expectations. Love the smooth power. Only disappointment is the exhaust note - but that is fixable 👍
Sorry - not really related to the 50e discussion 😂
