So guys I just logged Map 4 & 5 and sent them to terry. No issues even on map 5! It’s a complete monster on Map 5! I am running around 99-100 octane. Terry recommended not to go higher then map 3 if you are only using 93. But since I had some 104 octane race fuel I mixed in with 93 to achieve around 100 octane and it runs amazing on Map 5! If you don’t have race gas you can also put E30 but I am not a huge fan of ethanol because of the added maintenance that usually comes with running it. But so far no complaints only lots of smiles and amazing turbo sounds!

FWIW I reached out to BMS about options for myself given the following: No modifications except a piggy back and limited to 91 oct fuel.
Here is the response I received: Thanks for reaching out. Many are installing the JB4 on an otherwise stock car, no worries there. You would install the JB4 fully / normally, I'll include the install guide below for your reference. 91 octane, you'll likely need to stick with Map1, but data logs will confirm 100%. Any other questions, let me know. JB4: https://burgertuning.com/products/s6...62035739&_ss=r Guide: https://www.jb4tuned.com/instruction...tall-Guide.pdf image.png Best, Burger Motorsports Sales Basically I will get a 3psi bump and have data logs which will determine if there is more potential. Most likely I will be limited to map 1, which I am totally fine with, however this is essentially the same increase as RC less any capacity for data logging. IMO the additional cost makes the JB4 a safer option with the ability to expand later if desired. |

My car has less than 1500 miles on it; read #cobramite comment saying was waiting until reaching 3,000 miles to install the JB4. I intend to keep pumping 93. Read some negative reviews about E30 performance drop (pressure). So I'm guessing the max tune in my case will be Map3...
😒 I want more 🐴💨 in my stable.... suggestions? Please keep updating your experience with the device. Thanks |

For anyone looking for this, I’m swapping out of my X5 xDrive40i and have this available. Paid $912 shipped, only used for about a month. I’d take $850 shipped OBO.
Car ran great, ran Map 3 on 93 octane. Burger Tuning has some of the best “tech support” and I will be getting a JB4 for my next car. |

You can email Terry at BMS, he’s very responsive. Not 100% sure on this but I did have a friend running one on a 2023 45e and he was impressed with the difference.

Wish downpipes were made for this thing. I’ll keep posted if I get the dragy. I am currently considering upgrading to a X5M. But knowing how great this thing drives with springs + JB4, it’s really damn hard to justify the cost difference. |

How safe is JB4 on the 2024 X5 40i? Is it something I could run daily without any concern what so ever (say on map 1)? and is it drivable for my wife too? What concerns me is the possibility of long term damage to existing computers and or engine as well as the JB4 unit itself having an error and leaving me on the side of the road or worse yet blowing up the engine due to some freak error. Also how is the reliability long term? Any increase in risk with the module running for 3+years?
If the JB4 drives like stock but feels like the car just has more HP when you lean into the pedal, and is safe, long term, and can still drive slow and smooth like stock when you are just putting around town, then I would be interested. |

It should be reliable if you have access to good fuel and the logs are clean. Few extra pounds should not harm anything You could void your warranty though.
Piggybacks do make me nervous vs a flash tune which is not possible yet on this motor. |
