Radar detector installation
Hi all!
Getting ready for my delivery and I’m considering getting rid of my remote installed custom detector for a Redline 360c. I want to do a stealthy install up high by the mirror b/c I’m in VA but I’m having a hard time finding a suitable mounting bracket. I think it would be sturdier to mount it to the visor bracket along with using a mirror tap. Anyone found a solution to mounting their detector in the X5/M? Pics are awesome too! Thanks! |

I’ve only really liked blendmount solutions, but one is limited on supported devices

I used Radarmount from Amazon. It works beautifully. The detector is a little further from the windshield than I would like and they sent me free parts to move it further back (I got used to it and haven’t done so). I’ve used one of their mounts for over 5 years with no issues.
I stopped overpaying for blendmounf and never looked back. X |

I used a permanent windshield mount for my detector. Metal clips into detector on one side and other side is 3M tape attached to windshield left of rear view mirror as high as possible.

I have a different radar detector but yes this is exactly what I use. It’s nice, I placed mine as high up as possible which is best for detection, the metal can be bent/molded to ensure it sits level, and I can hide the detector by flipping my sun visor down if I get pulled over.

Darkest windshield visor tint strip with the escort suction cup mounted highest up to headliner. Can't even see the suction cup from outside vehicle. Can't get it any higher than that.
I pick up X5M next week and ordering a Redline 360 too. Anyone know if the gesture control is still setting off the rear laser detection on the Escort's or are you all turning it off? |

I have been using redline 360 c since it was introduced in 2020, also, I have 360c for my wife’s car. Never noticed any glitches from gesture control. To be fair, I turned it off after couple months of giving me hard time.
I mounted mine 360c on the windshield using standard attached mount, placed it on the right side, so it would not block my view. I connected it directly to the breaker circuit. On my m5 I have an extra slot, available, ideal for that reason. X7 is a bit different, you need to find one that turns off/on with the vehicle. Not sure about rear view mirror, when I started to install it, I read couple articles about potential threat or connecting to the rear bier mirror. It powers the camera for active cruise controls and can interfere with the adequate functioning. I am curious now was it true!? How is it working for you with rear view mirror mount? The radar itself is awesome, absolutely love it. I’m in MD, going to VA and DC is not challenging, since it has stealth capability. The falls alarms are rear. I used settings from hear, it helped: |

I tried the blendedmount with my redline 360, but the roads here are terrible, and it made the rear view mirror vibrate way too much with the extra weight, so I am still trying to find an alternative.

Might need to retighten some of the screws or adjust the angle so there's no vibration.

Been tapping into rear view mirror for power for four BMW’s now. Never had any problems with any other functions on the car. Use active cruise control daily/highway assist plus daily. |
