Planning on the southern part of the parkway... maybe as far as Mt Airy... maybe a little further. Getting to the parkway will also be fun. (Usually is!!!)

If you have really high electric rates (but, that is often combined with high gas prices, too, so it takes some calculations), or, if most of your use is longer trips on the highway, or, if you can't or won't recharge the battery regularly, the cost bump on the 50e may not make financial sense unless you factor in the intangible environmental issue.
FOr the average person that can plug in when they get home, or maybe better, gets free charging at work, the 50e makes a lot of sense. |

Wheels/ Tires X5 50e
Ordered the 2024 BMW X5 50e with 21" wheels. I live in Colorado and want a sporty all season tire and a solid winter tire. Not a fan of the run flats on BMWs. Does anyone have any suggestions on non-run flat tires for X5? Do you think I'll regret going with 21" vs 20"? I do like to off road from time to far camping and push my vehicles in the snow etc. Do you think I will regret going with the more "conservative not so fresh" 20"
In addition I opted out of the executive package, not a fan of the crystal glass knobs, they seem a little too barbie for me. LED panoramic sunroof would've been cool but mehh. Might be fun to look at on the way back from a red rocks show....lol Wish the review mirror had more visibility, my current car has a camera embedded in the back of the antenna that pushes live video feed to my rear view providing more visibility in the rear. |

I have 20s on my build but might consider changing if this is a good solution. |

Any non run flat will be superior then the run flat so you won't regret it. These tires are getting good reviews. Only problem is that they are not long lasting and will vibrate over time even with road force balance.

And any general consensus about the 741s vs. the 915s? Finally, I don't think the 50e comes with a spare... Am I being silly losing RFTs if I'm looking at a 50e with no spare? |

As for spare I never used it in 8 years on my current x5 with regular Michelin. Even my other cars the Michelins are amazing. When they get punctured which rarely happens they have super slow leak which allows me times to get it fixed. Never had any blow outs with them. That's why I'm sticking with the 20s and putting non run flat Michelins. Last edited by rexus300; 05-19-2023 at 10:53 PM.. |

741M's are staggered summer runflats.

Thanks. That’s what I thought.
Is there a consensus view (to the extent such a thing exists on the internet) between which is better between the 741 and the 915s? I assume both are the same specs - correct? So this is purely aesthetics? |

Just looks so like color, a personal preference.

And sorry to hijack, but as a person in the NE, my inclination was just to go with the 20” all seasons. But as I wait for my car to hit the build queue, I keep wondering what else I can throw money at on this 50e (lease).
If I wanted a 21” upgrade — and to put all-seasons on — what do people typically ask the dealer to do? Do they sell the performance tires back to the dealer? Do you just end up having two sets of tires? Just curious what the best strategies are for those of us in the snow belt that want a little more visual oomph — not that I think the 20s are shabby. |

Why not to use e.g. 21' tires Mercedes GLS uses? I do not understand why people are whining about no 21'' tires or even giving up 21'' and go with 20'' to get A/S. I understand that there could be some error on the speedometer, but it does not show real/accurate speed even with factory tires.

3% difference on the speed read does not sound like a lot to me. But I understand that someone could be concerned about having 2 mph difference when driving 70 mph on highway.
