Hey guys!

Just recently purchased a pretty much fully loaded X6M individual.

Of course selected the full merino leather option.

However, today I noticed the center armrests appears to be a very smooth sensatec and not merino leather. In my 2024 M4 and 2022 X5M they are in fact merino leather as they should.

Has anyone else noticed this? I’m assuming if it’s an accurate and thought out change for BMW, they do this to ensure longevity since the center armrest can take a lot of abuse.

My 2024 X5M has the leather center console….I didn’t spec the full merino leather which supposedly doesn’t have merino near the right knee area and door side panel near the cup holder 🤷🏽‍♂️ Hope that helps

I would check your build sheet that you actually got what you ordered. Also, might want to check if full leather in LCI covers the center arm rest. I am sure people here would know

Can you post a picture of your middle console so we can see the difference? Wondering if it’s an anomaly… 🤔

Hi, yes build sheet has full leather option for $3,500.

I am 100% certain the entire cabin where it’s supposed to be merino leather is. Even the seat-backs are black merino leather, bottom door panels, everything, just like it was on my 2022 X5M.

Yes here it is. Somewhat hard to tell but trust me it's not real merino. Extremely odd. I don't know if I'll look like a psycho if I bring it up to my dealer but the center armrest is a huge touch-point and should be merino.

I folded it up near the diver's seat for comparison, see how smooth the leather is on the seat compared to the fake perfect texture grain on the armrest?

My X5M competition with full merino looks the same as your car. The leather on the door armrest matches the center console leather.
I think its normal.

FWIW, I remember seeing a used x5M (can’t recall year) with a center armrest that was showing the heating element lines. Perhaps the previous owner was really leaning on the cover or had something on it, but I thought that strange and definitely defective.

Perhaps the merino leather is showing these heating elements and they are having to replace armrests? And as a go forward solution using an alternative material?

Not an M owner, look into this forum from time to time, also useful info for me. Have 40i LCI with full merino. Armrest heated. Can confirm armrest is also merino.

just picked up 2024 x5m - leather on main armrest and elsewhere is smooth - no dimpling

That’s really interesting. I wonder if I should bring it up to my dealer? My 2022 X5M had a full leather center armrest.
