DEF / Adblue no longer required
Took delivery this week of a MY21 30d, and noticed that there is no DEF filler next to the fuel nozzle. Instead the place where the DEF filler is normally located was blanked off. I also checked under the hood in case it moved there and nothing found. The PDF manual downloaded specific to my vehicle specs via the MyBMW app still showed the DEF filler blue cap as being under the fuel filler flap. And yes, definitely have a diesel car. No Adblue / DEF details noted in the car settings menu.
I queried with the dealer and they said that DEF is no longer required on the 30d. Does anybody know the background on this, as it only appears to have been removed for diesel engines built in the last couple of months? I'm thinking that perhaps given the 50d engine has been dropped, they no longer need the DEF on the more efficient 30d for emmission regulations. This is a 30d for the Australian market. Any thoughts, or experiences? |

Lol. I was trying to figure out what that soft rubbery thing was next to my gas cap. I pushed on it thinking it was some kind of gas primer like on my lawnmower
