As for backup assist I use it all the time. I find it super useful when visiting someone with long winding driveways. |

Unpopular opinion, but DAP. I don't use any of the features other than ACC and turned them all off. I don't doubt they're useful for alot of people, it's just not the kind of daily driving I do in my 100k pop town. Even the ACC I only use maybe a handful of times a year. ACC should have been standard without DAP. That's really the only option I bought that I regret. I didn't get massaging seats or exec package because I knew they would be a waste of money for me, so no regrets there!
edit: I changed my mind on DAP. I did a long trip recently and used highway assist with lane change assist and I loved it. It's still something I will only use a few times a year, but I'm now glad I have it for when I do. Last edited by spoodle; 04-13-2024 at 12:14 PM.. |

I literally use back up assist daily to get out of my super tight garage. It’s great.
I may be alone in thinking that the crystal shifter actually feels crappy and cheap - the seam on the back plastic is very off putting. Should have been leather or something nicer on backside of it. |

I'm surprised there aren't any leather wraps available for it. |

Agree on the crystal knob backing plastic part as well. The seam is like WTF…. It is something no one see, but driver feels it every time.
As for backup assistance, in order for that to work, nothing in the path can change between coming in and backing out, right? Let’s if another car is park differently, or someone pushes garage cam on to the drive way, backup assist doesn’t know what to do and stop. I have tried it super tight city parking structure, say SF union square parking. It never really works because surrounding changes.

I agree that it feels cheap and tacky. Mine has about a millimeter of play in the mechanism as well so I find myself randomly wiggling it around as I drive down the road.

Buying an X5 without MSport Pro. Chrome trim stands out like a sore thumb on Black Sapphire Metallic. I think it cheapens the look too.

I'll tell you the one option that I DIDN'T get that eats me up every time I see it on another X5 - the Alcantara headliner. My sales guy said I wouldn't miss it, but I have serious regret about not getting it.

They do jazz up the interior nicely. If I were spec'ing an M60i with Merino, alcantara headliner would be a must. A 40i with Sensafin, not needed IMO.

I guess I’ll be the odd man out here. Had the alcantera headliner in my ‘18 X5M and my wife has it in her X7. Took an M50i off the lot without it and totally thought I would miss it, but I don’t one bit. As a matter of fact, now when I get in my wife’s X7 the alcantera bothers me. I hate how the material looks different shades of black and it’s blotchy. Doesn’t help that my kids put their hands all over it.

I agree, the Alcantara headloner looks too busy to me, I like the dark grey headliner on the M package best.

It looks great when new. With age and sun, they turn a bit purple. Contact area will have fuzz balls. I has it in my e39. It came with thr car. I won’t get it if you plan to keep the car for long time.
