No V8 Allocations for Jan? HELP??
Hi guys,
So looks like bmw didn’t release any allocations for X5 M50, X5M, X6 M60, or X6M, basically all the V8s. I’ve been waiting for an allocation to get a new car, does anyone know if they’d release allocations for March? What is going on? Why isn’t there any allocation for February builds ? Any help would be appreciated, I need a car ASAP |

There was a member that posted that there was a hold on the M60i builds but no one else has heard of that or has any information. It could just be that allocations are light and dealers aren't getting them.
Hope Dan Next Level Auto Brokers has some information.

You want one NOW? A Cargurus search (likely not up to date) reveals 33 M60i's on dealer lots or inbound within 500 miles of my zip. Some are nicely spec'd and some are likely customer ordered but some are likely for sale. A call to the dealer will confirm their status.

It’s black sapphire though instead of my preferred Manhattan green and is 107k instead of my build of 104k. I am considering it though, I might get it, depending on how much off msrp the dealer is willing to do. My broker can get me 8% off from his dealers once an allocation is made available by bmw. Thanks for sharing, as early last month (December 2023), my sales manager informed me there was only 6 remaining X5M allocations for a January 2024 build and was told that I would have to wait for a February 2024 allocation. Glad that I shifted instead to the X5 M60 which was built this week, as I’ll wait until the dust settles then flip back into a X5M.

I heard from my dealership that they had no new M60i allocations and had heard that nobody received any at the end of Dec.
First I have heard of no allocations until April. Will see if my dealership has heard anything. Anybody know when the '25 models start production? April allocation seems like it might be butting up to the '25s. |

No I did not know for a fact, but it seemed weird that X5M allocations were so limited for a car that leases above $2,000/month, especially now that 2023 YoY X5 sales were down. I thought the limited X5M/X6M allocations was to move the XM’s that were sitting on lots. Something is up in the supply chain, but you would had thought that manufacturs would have a diversified supply chain after the past 4 years by now—but it’s not the case. There are options that are excluded from the 40i that only the higher profit margin V8 model builds can spec out.

Curious to know….if one cannot build a V8 today and likely not until late Q1, would a very well optioned M60i @ 7k miles command a premium private party price right now?

I’m not looking to sell it but typically if demand outpaces supply, prices increase.

Any update? I'm curious, but I just don't see a big demand for V8's these days considering most of dealership stock is the B58 and I see mostly 40i's on the roads.

No surprise? What is wrong with bmw lol. My broker says they would have released a bulletin if they were gonna go so long without releasing allocations. Or has this ever happened before?

UPDATE!!!
So my broker spoke to someone in BMW of Manhattan that has insight into what’s going on at corporate and they said BMW planned to release V8 allocations for March builds, which might explain why there was a lot in NoV/Dec. So there should be allocations for V8s and M cars by next allocation slot (January ending or 1st week in February) |
