Moving from 23 X5 45e to 24 iX 50

Hi all,

I'm sure there will be many opinions here, but trying to get some thoughts from others who have done or are considering the following.

I have a decent lease deal on a 24 iX 50 (almost 22k off in total with all current rebates and incentives). This lease is at base MF and comes to about $1000/mo with $3k DAS (first month payment, dmv fees etc).

I really like the 45e but am always up for trying something different. I have an offer from my broker for $73k on the 45e (82k+tax purchase) but I captured the $7500 tax credit). I'd lose the money I paid in taxes, plus a bit extra to make the switch.

I would not buy the iX, leasing these is the only way IMHO. But I have also heard mixed reviews...

Wow, that's really good for the trade offer. I am contemplating the same thing, my 45e was right around that same purchase price but KBB shows trade value is horrible.

Personally the only reason I didn't get the iX back in November was the tax credit on the 45e and the ID8 issues, plus the fact that coding/programming is mostly locked out (which means no retrofits/tinkering which I love doing).

Can I ask how they are still coming to $1k/mo on the iX lease with that much in discounts?

MSRP on the iX is $101,550. It's a 11k discount on MSRP and 10k in rebates. MF is 0.00111 for 36/10k miles. RV is 53%. Price is with taxes etc.

Gotcha. I haven't started searching for deals yet but ideally I'd like to stay around $800-850/mo. which seems doable depending on build/trade value.

I might have to try to convince the wife to go test driving with me even though she made me swear I was keeping the 45e till the wheels fell off lol

Yea, I think that is doable if you dial down the spec with current incentives. With that said, I really do not like the exterior styling of the iX - I MUCH prefer the X5. The X5 in full EV form would be my wife's ideal car. I like the interior on the iX.

Hard decision, and I expect the deals to improve even further.

Three and a half years and you can get it. Of course who knows what changes will be made.

Yes, the iX5 will be released in December 2026.

Just looked that up...looks like a very small number of these are out in the wild. But hydrogen. Any sources for some of the details for 2026?

I don't understand why they would bring in the iX but then plan to go back to a shared platform.

No, Hydrogen is a totally separate development project. I'm talking about the G65 which will be the next version of the X5. The ICE, PHEV and BEV will share the same platform similar to the way the 4 and 7 series do.

The iX was released for marketing reasons to have an EV. It is not a long term model and will end production in 28.

I was in a similar situation: had a 45e and was offered a rather exceptional lease deal on an iX by my dealer.

I now have an X5 50e.

While the iX drives nicely and has some neat features, my aesthetic appreciation capabilities continue to find its exterior design to be horrific.

That’s my same struggle. I have considered a 50e also but don’t think switching from our 45e would make sense. It’s a 2023 with only a few thousand miles on the ODO.

It sounds like I may be waiting for the iX5

If the iX would have the looks of an X5 I'd be driving an iX M60 now. It's an almost perfect car - on paper. I tried to get used to the looks, I REALLY did. But even now when I see one I think IT IS HIDEOUS. While the rear is actually quite palatable the interior and especially the front end isn't and I even got used to the looks of the new kidneys on 7-series & 4-series.
