3D Design front lip question...

For those of you that have the front lip from 3D Design, did you buy it unpainted or choose the option with the finish painted on (ex. phytonic blue, carbon black, manhattan green, etc)?

How close did it come to the OEM Factory paint job? I'm thinking of getting it and want to know if the paint is spot on or if there's a variance in color.

I purchased the front lip and had it painted Arctic Grey Metallic. It was 100% spot on. IND-Distribution was where you buy them from and they do an extremely good job of painting along with ceramic coating it for additional protection.

Good to know, I'm on the fence on whether to buy it with the painted option or just order it unpainted and get it painted myself. My main concern is making sure the paint matches especially for colors like yours or mine (Carbon Black). How long did it take you to receive when they painted it from the time you ordered?

Any others that bought their 3D Design lip painted from IND (or whichever shop online)?

iND happens to be right down the road from me. I stopped by the other day to look at the front and rear spoilers in person. I was lucky enough to get a tour. Place is absolutely amazing and the care and detail the guys put in is really something to see. After seeing it in person and how well the stuff matches I decided to order both painted. IND-Distribution

because my vehicle is matte, I couldn’t get it painted so I went with jet black 668 which is the code for all the gloss black painted trims on the vehicle. I ended up selling it for a different lip because i like a little more flange on the front corners

one guy had them paint both front lip and rear flow-through spoiler in Lime Rock Grey, and from the photos, they look excellent for an Individual color.

Very cool! Thanks for the info. I think I may end up going this route then. My local paint shop that specializes in Euro cars quoted me $250 for the OEM paint and I've seen a few high-end vehicles there when I stopped by. But they also gave me a week turnaround and would have to schedule it. I figure if I just get it painted when I order it, then it's one less thing to have to worry about.

Awesome! Lime Rock Grey is a great individual color and having them match it to spec is a good assurance that they'd color match perfectly.

It takes about a week to paint them and get ready for shipping. I had the paint done and Ceramic Coating applied.

Good to know, so would you say you received it within 2-3 weeks after you ordered?

Agreed. I have always loved this lip. Planning on purchasing from IND soon. It's the best one that really compliments the OEM fascia without looking aftermarket

Mine actually took 30 days because they were out of stock. Once it came it I had it in about 2 weeks. 1 week was paint and ceramic

100% only reason I want to get it is because of the aggressive OEM-ish look to it!

For those of you that ended up getting the 3D Design lip, did you install it yourselves (and how hard was the install) or did you have a shop do it for you?

I was going to but I had other things to install so I used r33_RGSport here locally in LA to just knock it out. Ben can do just any anything there at his shop

I installed it myself. Super easy. Only part that was hard was once you get it fitted, you have to pulled one side really hard to go over the bumper.
