Welcome to the forum. The VIN is assigned when the vehicle goes to the Production Begins status which is about two weeks prior to the assembly date. Production Begins means that a VIN has been assigned and parts ordered/allocated not that assembly has begun. The tracking on the MyBMW app has issues so MyGarage should be used to getter most accurate info.

Our first ever BMW, a new X5 S40i Msport with DAP, Msport Pro, black 742s, PAP, CCP, in Carbon black with black marino - is being assembled tomorrow! Anyone else going to have the same build date? Anyone doing PCD on 5/9?

My X5 is being built today, tax day. Garage currently has it entering production line -- 153. But I am doing PCD 5/23 as I am traveling the first couple of weeks in May. So delayed gratification.

Ours is also being built today. It's been at status 153 since this morning.

I just placed an order for the X5 M60i M Sport Pro in Tanzanite Blue with 747M wheels. Was unsure between Sensafin Silverstone vs Coffee but my wife vetoed them, rightly saying they won’t age well, especially with young kids. So i chose Black Comfort ventilated seats instead. I come from 4 years of driving an X5 M50D with sport seats and adaptive M suspensions Pro, this time I opted for comfort seats and air suspensions. Longer journeys in my M50D are not the most comfortable, seats are bit too hard and when you have it in sport mode it becomes quite jittery (especially on german autobahn’s) so you end up always using the sport individual setting with comfort suspensions settings. Let’s see if I get a bit more comfort with this M60i. Things I removed as options, that I had on my M50D but don’t find they add much value are: gesture control, soft close (I’ve had a nasty/dangerous experience with this), M Suspension pro, leather dashboard, glass controls. I was told that if someone ordered the car in Feb ‘24 they wouldn’t get rear steering due to chip shortages, this has since been resolved.

It will depend on clearing QC and how long it takes to get a carrier. It will take about two days to get to Texas so likely Fri-Monday.

Thank you!!! So I should be good to go for the following weekend (27th). Surprise 50th bday gift for my wife...to which she has NO idea. Going to trade her X3 that very day. Working with the SA, showroom floor, red bow, note in the console.....the works! Priceless expressions coming soon.....
