That said; I agree, not the same. But the stigma remains, just as there are people now that refuse to touch a minivan. It's not logical, there is no objective reason, I can't say there is anything right about it, but it can be hard to set these things aside. |

If an X3 is too small I think RS6 will be too.
I came in intending to buy an X5M. After test drives, I decided the M50i was plenty for me, and I'm a crazy person who drives an SUV like a sports car. The M50i options for better for a daily driver SUV, and with DHP and.the M Pro steel.slring suspension, it handles great and is comfortable. If you're looking to lease, an M60 miight be up your alley. |

I’m with you on that one. Unfortunately, the only people I see driving RS6 Avants are men in their late 40’s and early 50’s that are doing well in life. Would love to see somebody like Jennifer Aniston in one of those, ha.

I’m thinking of going with the X5 M Competition only because of Audis recent reliability and horrible climate control interference

I doubt you'll find many soccer moms driving an X5M.

I notice that too - though nobody driving an RS6 looks unhappy. I mean, how could you be unhappy driving a 621 horsepower station wagon!

If you see a need to drive in snow or any type of offroading, the BMW would prevail. Otherwise it sounds like you would be happier with the RS6, I know I would.

The RS6 is a more “special” or unique car, that matters.
I don’t know any soccer moms driving X5 M’s. But also, most people don’t know the difference between an X5 40i and an X5 M. I say this as an M550 driver, in which case the 5 series is the same thing. To the average person, there’s no difference in my car and a 530i.

It would be a daily driver, and would need to be able to handle 4+ inches of snow

4 inches of packed snow? I’d think the wagon would be fine. 4 inches of fresh powder? I’d rather be in the SUV. The wagon likely has the ground clearance but I’d still rather have the 8 inches or so of clearance from the X5.

There is a clear bias/stigma against wagons in NA that they're only for old people, except at Car & Driver magazine.
In Canada, there is now a push by BMW to generate interest in the new M5 Touring wagon, currently available in Europe. What's the story in the US? |

I’m currently leaning towards the X5 M Competition, though I’d get it in individual interlagos blue

It’s already been spotted being tested in Los Angeles under camo so unless there are any last minute issues, it will more than likely be coming to the US.

Shit,I'd be all over that in a hot second. Just for the sleeper factor alone. Quick de-badging and I'd be heading to the drag strip to beat up on sports cars in my station wagon. Love love love the hi-performance wagons exactly for this reason. CTS-V,E63S,RS6,M3 Touring, etc
Nothing like telling friends/family your Mustang or Mopar whatever got gapped by a station wagon

Some things never change lol
Back in the day you'd occasionally be next to a wagon at a light and you could hear what was clearly an engine with a long duration camshaft idling at 900 or so with a solid lope. You can bet if he went that far he had headers and all the usual stuff. Having fun isn't something someone figured out recently. |
