HRE Wheels

Very much considering HRE wheels for my ‘21 G05 M-Sport.

Has anyone gone with HRE?

More specifically:
“Series RC1”,
“Classic Series”
or “520 Series” setups?

Yes, I have owned several sets of HREs: S104, P104 and 3 sets of P101s. You will pay a premium for HREs as they have a good name, but there are other companies out there now that can offer equal quality and styling for about 1/3 of the price. As with any wheel, a one piece forged monoblock wheel are the strongest.

My previous three piece 22" HRE S104 experience on my (f85) X5M lasted only a few months... I ran over a (literally) nothing pothole and bent two barrels! I know others that have ran 3 piece wheels with similar problems. Factory wheels would have shrugged this little bump off without incident, but the HREs were bent and it felt like I was rolling around on footballs. I had to remove the wheels and tires, send them off to get new barrels installed ($$$$) or I could have had them straightened ($$$). Either way it was a major inconvenience and cost that could have been avoided.... Since then I have sworn off pieced wheels altogether, even though they look really cool.

From your selection, I like the look of the 520M Monoblocks best.
Dial the offsets in and they will look amazing.

Been there and back with HRE's. One season I bent 3......Fashion vs function. I swore off 3/2 piece 15 years ago and never looked back. Only mono's or bust

Same with Brembo's .......but different issue altogether .....
