Apple car play

Although not easy to do and not cheap, ACP can be permanently added to your G05.

PM me your VIN if interested.

Is it cheaper than $300? 20 year sub for car play is $300.

Ok. I’ll bite. So if it’s difficult and costs more than activating through BMW, why would anyone want to do it?

I dont think BMW even offers permanent apple car play. You need a VIN matching FSC code.

Sometime, pedantry can be blinding :-). Obviously most logical humans would equate 20 years with "permanent" on a rapidly wearing "asset" such as a car. So assuming 20 years = permanent, why would anyone pay more for it than BMW's $300 offer?

We're not trying to attack, just trying to understand the logical value proposition in a competitive situation.

Exactly. When considering that almost none of us will still own our X5s in 10 years (much less 20) and that phone technology will advance to the point that CarPlay systems on the car will likely be unusable, a 20 year term is functionally equivalent to a 200 year term.

To be honest, even if it was $150...I would rather just get it through BMW. It's really not a huge deal, since the package was $300 before. The $80 a year is stupid. I wish they would've just given me the option to pay the $300 and they go away. I am just made I have to fork over $300 a year later lol.

Now with Ford and SYNC 4 offering wireless carplay...it'll be interesting to see how BMW will justify the cost if Ford is free. Their last excuse was "Oh we got the wireless carplay". I'll keep my $300 and plug it in like a peasant if that's the case...
