Sure. But it's the phone OS BT stack that is connecting to the OBDLink, so no BMW or BimmerCode magic should be needed to create the connection.

What should be and what is are NEVER the same with Apple, BMW, ODBLink manufacturer, or ANY technology company. Massive cans of worms are everywhere. Engineer and mobile app developer for apps that interface to hardware using BT here ...

Just recoded my X5 using a Veepeak Bluetooth adapter but still cannot access the Tailgate functions. Hoping that this will be available with the next update.

I was trying to help buze debug his BT connectivity issues. You may have noticed that he Appreciate'd my post and that he stated that it also works without airplane mode.

I'd love to know what would happen if you're in the middle of coding, and a simple phone call comes in, while the phone is connected to the cars Bluetooth and you pickup the call.

Can you please try it and let me know....

I'm just happy to stay in Airplane mode while I code.

Been there. Done that. Actually I did not answer the call. I received an error in writing to the Instrument Cluster ECU. That caused about 13 errors to pop up on the idrive display and completely disabled my dash display and HUD.

To make matters worse, trying to rewrite the changes I made or reverting to the backup copy of the ECU data did not work on my first two attempts.

It eventually did manage to rewrite the backup to the ecu after turning off the car and shutting it down, removing the obd adapter and closing down the app.

I had a very uncomfortable 10 minutes of sweating and swearing.

I strongly suggest using airplane mode

Oh no, I have no intention of trying that! My point was to first make sure that the BT connection to the MX+ works and once that is confirmed then move on to making BimmerCode work. BimmerCode talking to BMW requires care and attention based on the stories here but in my experience, Android talking to MX+ does not.

I will report my experiences with coding hopefully in January.

I suggest getting the ethernet cable one and an adapter for your phone. Won't have the call issue, plus it's 10x faster than the Wifi or BT ones.

I've wondered about that, but can't visualize it. How does an iPhone running Bimmercode connect to physical CAT5/6 Ethernet cable?

Update: answering my own question: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NW9HSL7..._1Zt1Db89B3DC4 What do you know, no idea how I never came across such a thing before!

Yep you got it and have done it, works great super fast and also had no idea lightning to ethernet was a thing until it said to buy one for the ethernet cable to work.

I'm wondering to buy the adapter for the M50d from 10/18 production. It costs in Europe 150 euro + 40 euro full version bimmercode. Which useful changes I would be able to do? It's worth ?

Is there a cheat sheet out there for what the options when you go to the expert section mean?

The only reference really is the xml file from jokinawa : https://github.com/packetpilot/bmw-f...s/jokinawa.xml

That's what I use to code the assisted drive view, however the 'expert' mode is only available for that module DKOMBI4, so for example, I couldn't code anything else useful like Comfort/Sport Plus, 'sailing' etc... It's fairly limited in the end.

I would love to do this one
I find that adaptive is good balance between comfort and handling for city driving
Is this available in the expert mode?

<code description="Change startup mode to Adaptive">

Not Bimmercode, at least not at the time of this post.

Just got an update on the BimmerCode App and it appears we only got an additional option to change the one touch turn signal to 5 flashes. Was hoping for more.

Live Cockpit Instrument cluster coding is enabled in this version. I was able to code the Alpina display and it looks beautiful. Much better than the default.

You also have expert mode on kombi4, allowing you to remove the alpina logo. (Search "logo")

Bimmercode iOS 3.4 also enables RAM ECU and that, in turn, enables ASD (Active Sound Design) on/off coding :-).

I've played with ASD all of last week and I believe I am going to leave it turned on in the end. It is very subtle at idle and I mostly notice it over playing music at lower driving speeds. Doesn't sound fake at all, just slightly amplified version of what you already hear inside without it on. Keep in mind that I drive exclusively in Sport Plus (when human driven) and my exhaust flap is permanently open.

If you want to hear the slight difference it makes at idle, code ASD on/off with engine already running and doors closed.

It may have been resolved in later i-step levels or there was another setting that needed to be changed. What seems to have been the issue is that standard speedo would be 0-200km/h and alpina was 0-240km/h but after coding the needle didn't adjust to the scale change, so like changing the gauge face but the needle was not compensating, so then would read low.
Finally tried the Alpina dash. That is the best dash layout of the lot. In particular, the green filler on the low side of the simulated dial needles is very functional, makes it drastically easier to see at a glance where the engine revs are, for example.

I can confirm, however, that the speedo needle scale image is off on the Alpina dash. The digital displays (70km/h in my pic), including ACC top speed display (80km/h in my pic) and the needle are all correct, but the speedo scale static image is wrong. Funny to see ACC 80km/h higher on the scale than the scale 90km/h marker :-). The fix could just be a different static scale display image.

I am still on 3/2019.45 and I am configured for km/h, so it would be interesting to see what this looks like with mph and 7/2019.xx and 11/2019.xx software. Anyone?
