Inexplicably delayed 2 months.

You read it correctly.... my build date was scheduled for the 2nd week of December, and my delivery date scheduled for the last week in January (US spec car being delivered to Europe).

No explanation at all. No reason. No justification..... just random dates changed in a random database, for no rhyme or reason.

My sales guy is good. He even said he doesn't get paid until a month after I get my car. He's already elevated his concerns up to BMW.... and even he's being given the silent treatment.

My car is PAID IN FULL. They already have the entire purchase price in their account.... and only NOW do they decide to back up the production date to January, with a delivery date in the 2nd week of MARCH.

I traded in my car, and bought an X5 M50i on October 4th. That means I'll be waiting over 5 months for my car.... which I'm already making loan payments on by the way. My dealer is still trying (daily) to get me an earlier production date, or at least the original production date they promised...... but let's just say, I'm not holding my breath.

THAT... coupled with the fact that OVER A YEAR LATER, BMW still can't figure out how to get the Navigation working in Europe on Idrive 7 for all the US service members stationed in Europe. Yes.... seriously. No US service member stationed in Europe with I drive 7 has functioning navigation. My best friend bought a 2019 X5 six months ago and his nav WORKED. He went in for an "update" a month later, and now it hasn't worked for 5 months, with no end in sight.

I'd expect this horsesh*t from Dodge or Chevy.... but when exactly did BMW turn from a respected brand into this?

I'm seriously thinking this was a huge mistake.

I feel your frustration... 5 month wait and constantly changing dates and this n that. Youre right, it is unacceptable. I hope things work out for you.

Could it be because its an m50i?

I have no idea.... but I bought a 1000 Euro (about $1150) piece of flaming sh*t car to drive while I wait the 2-3 months for my X5.

Now that wait has increased to 5 months.

F my life.

It will all be ok once the car arrives. The m50i is awesome, it will be worth the wait. Did you spec the car with any individual options including full merino? They seem to be struggling with the full leather cars for some reason.

I can understand. I ordered late October and was told 3-4 weeks. Just found out a few days ago it won’t be until maybe mid-January. That’s more like 3 months. Quite different. Something must be going on with the factory. Either too many orders, or something. It does not seem normal. But I agree with another poster...Once the car arrives all will be forgotten!
Good Luck!

For everyone that is experiencing the delay in production...when you placed your order, were you immediately given a production number? Or were you just told that your order had been placed?

What's your build spec? And did the production number have an estimated build week? Was it marked Priority One?
Just trying to narrow down what might be causing the delay. I also have aN M50i order with. production number marked priority one that is sitting at 111 status.

Priority 1 as well. No estimated build week.

I think I have my build spec on another thread here titled “I need an intervention”.

I ordered my X5 M50i july 31. It was supposed to be December build. It was push back to January. I have been on a loaner car since. I called the K Town dealership and asked them why it got pushed back. At first no one knew why. They contacted Headquarters and came back with week 52 now. He noted some kind of priority in the system.

Actually they got navigation working on the 2019 and 2020 model already but when an update was released it broke it. They is because of the new coding with the Idrive 7.They could easily fix it again but they would need to reload maps with another FSC code. They are waiting for BMW to release the fix in Late November or Early December. The issue is the car needs network connectivity because of the current system checks the vehicle performs.

You should have not got the loan before the vehicle arrives. ..this was kinda your fault.
I have not no loan yet. I only paid $4000 down. I have been driving the loaners around for 4 months. First loaner was a brand new x3 at $99 per month. The next car was a brand new 530i at $99 per month.

How do you get this information? I've been asking for months, and get dead silence. Do you have any sort of documentation on when they will fix the nav issue in Dec??? What is an FSC code?

Incidentally, I put considerably more cash down than you did.... and I wasn't even OFFERED a loaner, for ANY price. I didn't even know it was an option.

With the loan.... I was also told that was mandatory - to secure financing before the vehicle was even ordered.

Who did you order it with? Bavarian Motor Cars in Kaiserslauter they are the only ones that's are actually affiliated with BMW. It's like a an LLC so BMW is not liable if the company fails. They are the only ones that offer the loaner cars. Euler does not offer this. I spoke with the BMW military sales branch manager at HQ about the Navigation and connected drive. An FSC is a code need to install BMW Maps or Certain coding specific to your vehicle. It can be used only once.

I ordered it through the same place. In fact, I traded in my last BMW at the dealership in KTown.

NONE of this was explained to me..... none.

So my emotional rollercoaster ride continues....

Today, My dealer says he WAS able to re-procure an earlier production date. Now, it's back to the week of Dec 16th.

So.... if the stars align, I'll be driving it in late Jan, maybe early Feb.

Fingers crossed that it doesn't change again...

I was told my new build will take 2-3 weeks yesterday but once they entered it into the system, it says factory build will be in February because of the individual interior I selected (blue/white combo).
Do you think there's a good chance my build will get pushed out even further?

I doubt it would push out even further. I ordered the same interior - PB with ivory/blue extended on Sep 21, production number assigned Sep 24 and build didn't start until 10/29 and completed week 46 - w/e Nov 15. It was 5 weeks before it actually went into production.

There's definitely additional time needed for our rare X5 interior combo.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I'm going to be on pins and needles until delivery because I'll be able to lock in December lease rates (60 day lock-in) but if delivery will be made in March I'm going to be stuck with March rates (historically not good).
