315/30/R22 tire on front wheel

I just purchased a used 2021 X5 M50i which has 22" wheels on it and I didn't notice until later that the tire on the front passenger side is a 315/30/22. I'm trying to find a replacement 275/35/22 Continental Premium Contact 6, but I guess there's a tire shortage because I can't find it in stock anywhere. Is there much harm/danger in continuing to drive with this tire on the front wheel? I'm not sure how long it's going to take to find a replacement.
Thanks!

Serious issue. I'm shocked the car drives in a straight line with mismatched front tire sizes. You will surely want to get an alignment after you correct the tire issue. You should replace both fronts to avoid further uneven wear.

I'm surprised it's not rubbing with a 315 on the front. Make sure it wasn't as simple as they put a rear on the front and a front on the rear when working on the car. If not, you should take it back to the dealer and complain to them; have them find you a tire and replace the fronts for free plus an alignment. If it's a BMW dealer, they sold you are car out of OEM spec and it's a liability to them. Also can check state regulations and see if they violated anything in selling you an unsafe used car; I see you are in Texas, so who knows what loose regulations exist, but in PA that car should not have passed state inspection with mismatched tire sizes.

315 tires is way too wide for 9.5" wheels. The minimum requires wheel width is 10.5". The dealer should resolve this as its a safety issue.

I’d like to see some pictures. Having 315 in the front sounds insane haha. Also very odd that only front passenger rim has that tire size.

Maybe someone did a rotation and put the rears up front?

Yes, 315 will not fit on 9.5” wheel.

my thought was based on OP's statement of getting a 315/22 on the front passenger, so I assumed a 11.5 width like the M versions use for their 315/30/22 rears.
can 315s fit on a 10.5"?

IMO, not supposed to, but this is what BMW does for G05. I agree with you that 11.5J is a more appropriate width for 315mm tire. BMW put 275/45R20 on 9Jx20" on all 4 corner for M Sport wheel tire setup, not even 9.5J. It is clearly this set up is for comfort, allow tire size wall to flex to maximum, and outside of industry norm

Wheel update

I couldn't find the Continentals in stock anywhere so purchased 4 new Pirelli all-seasons. When the tire installer was switching them out, he confirmed the front passenger wheel was the correct 9.5" size that they managed to squeeze the 315 on. He also showed me that the front and rear passenger wheels were bent as they moved up and down slightly when balancing. The new tires hold air and I'm driving on it like that until I decide to buy some new wheels.

I bought the car from an individual so no dealership guarantees or anything. They did give me $400 for a new tire, but the bent wheels are my issue to deal with.

Here are some pics. Also included a pic of the driver's side correct tire just for comparison. I didn't notice any rubbing and I felt like it drove fine except when making a tight turn the steering wheel wouldn't want to return to center as I exited the turn.

Interesting. The 315 on 9.5” doesn’t even look too abnormal without a side by side comparison to 275.

So what is the plan? Will you swap out the from 315 back tk 275? Or will you swap the 275 to 315 for square setup?

IMHO it's a major safety issue. As previously mentioned 315 tire needs at least 10.5 wide wheel.

Why? I can see too narrow of tire, bead will come off wheel rim. If wider tire fits, what is the issue?

Concern is that you have 315 on 9.5" wheel. In this case there is a change in scrub radius and that can/will affect handling. I'm very particular regarding changes to brakes, wheels/tires, steering.
*But I have to agree with you that yes, you can drive with 315s in front. As long as you are not pushing car to the limits (or close to limits).

But scrub radius is not a function of the tire width. It is a function of wheel offset. Tire will center around the wheel. The center line of the tire is at the same place, right? I actually don’t feel confident on running 315 on 9.5” either. There must be other reason why people don’t recommend it. I just don’t know what it is.

This is where I always against putting spacer on, especially the front. There is so much unintended effect on suspension geometry that seller never discussed

Yeah, it's not so crazy looking as I think most people would imagine. I think that's why I missed it when I initially inspected the car before buying.
I already bought 4 new Pirelli All-Season tires at the correct factory sizes for my 22" wheels and have put them on. I have these Continental tires sitting on the garage floor until I can see if someone wants to buy them.
Now I just have two slightly bent wheels on the passenger side that I know I need to replace. Car drives fine and wheels hold air, but I'm sure that extra movement isn't good for the suspension.
