Ordered 2024 X5 xdrive50e…

Ordered LCI X5 50e on March 11th. Finally received my order number yesterday (March 28th). Still no idea when it will be produced and received.

It's mostly fully loaded with every package and a few additional add on's.... I have a couple questions for the experts...

1) The wheels I choose are 741M, and I really don't like them, but, I didn't want a staggered set up. I really wanted black wheels. Besides after market powder coating, is there any reason I can't buy 22" M Double-spoke Black Wheels, Style 742M with Performance Non Run-flat Tires and put them on a 50e? Some hybrid related reason that won't work?

2) I choose Sansafin for durability reasons. I'll probably keep the car for no more than 4 years. Will I regret not getting leather?

Thanks!

For 1), I think 742 isn't available because 22" spec doesn't offer run flat for G05 tire dimension. PHEV doesn't have spare, so factory option must be run flat

For 2) If Sanafin is really basically some kind of vinyl, I guess durability will be similar to previous vinyl offering. For 4 years, leather and vinyl really don't have much difference in durability. What vinyl will win is low maintenance. Just wipe down with wet cloth, and you are good to go. for people with young kids or pet, it maybe a better choice. For comfort, I believe leather still have edge.

This won't make me popular here, but I have Merino right now and I just ordered a 50e with Sensafin.

I won't miss it.

The Merino leather package is not worth its $1,950 price tag, IMHO. Parts of the seat are Vernasca anyway (ventilated seats), and there's very little Merino leather, unlike when Nappa leather was an option on the F15, where it could be found on the doors and dashboard. That leather package stood out and it was noticeable, but I cannot say the same for Merino/G05.

It really should be called the "Extra Sensatec, a Little Bit of Vernasca, and some Merino Leather package."

One can order 22” with 50e. For LCI also towhitch now available with 22” non run flat (for Europe). There is currently tire shortage for 22” so some markets already restricted the option (for now). For non run flat there is a tyre kit option from BMW (to come with a car).

Yeah no 22" option for U.S. 50e. My problem too, I love the 22" black wheels, but there is not even a black option for the 20 and 21s. My only options are to pay significantly more to order them separate (I hate that BMW does this), go aftermarket, or find someone with a 40i willing to do a wheel swap lol (not likely).

EDIT: I guess the other option is to have the 21's powder coated, which is probably my likeliest solution too.

Great point on the wheels... I didn't even think of the lack of a spare making run flat a necessity.

Still not sure whether the sansafin or the leather will make me happier. I'm not thinking it'll make too much of a difference to me. I saw the 2023 with the sansafin and I thought it looked good.

The way it was explained to me is that we "negotiate" once the car is in. Doesn't really sound like a negotiation. I'm expecting to pay MSRP.

my personal opinion.

sensafin felt good, looks good. best leather imitation i have seen so far.

but the big turnoff for me was when i opened the door on an X5 with sensafin, you could smell it.

you could smell the vinyl and that's why i think merino is the way to go.

We don't get a spare in UK but have 22 inch non run flat wheels.

I you aren't sure about sensafin or leather get leather and you won't be thinking should I have got sensafin.

That’s what they want you to think. Just another car dealer tactic. I just called around to few diff BMW dealers in my area, told them I wanted to order an X5 custom build but wanted to know if they were willing to negotiate. Ended up getting $2k off MSRP plus an additional $1.5k loyalty discount. Really looking forward to the new X5 but I also really wanted the black wheels and am trying to figure out my possibilities because I need all season tires in Seattle

custom ordered x5s can be had for significantly more discount.

40i 8.5%
50e 6%

Assuming 75k car this is about 6000 and 4500 off BEFORE incentives like loyalty which would be in addition to the msrp discount above.

Could be quite difficult in his region, PNW always offers the lowest discounts of any other. Back when 10% was fairly common those there were hoping for 4%. Lack of competition I guess comes into play.

Agree. In my SC town we have one each BMW, MB, Audi, Porsche dealer. Negotiating a competitive discount is nearly impossible. I’ve gone to the ATL area for my last 2 BMWs and an Audi. They have competition. It’s worth the hassle to save $6–8,000.

True. Should have checked the region. I guess you can always ship one but that would significantly cut the discount and probably render it not worth the time.
