All X5's can get one of the individual paints.

It was a wet day and busy day for delivery at PCD. Just posting a picture of our new Atlantis Blue X5. Need to get it cleaned up in the next day or two so I can get some “clean” photos taken & posted.

Individual Paint MSRP is 5k, we paid 4.2K.

How did you negotiate that? I've done 2 ind orders and it was always a hard $5k or no deal (and that's after checking with a zillion dealers - every one had that cost as $5k ...) thanks!

For mine we just added the ind paint cost to the MSRP and negotiated from there. They forwarded me an email from BMW with some individual paint info including the wholesale and retail prices so there is room for discounting.

Wow a zillion is a awful lot of dealers. I only priced the X5 out with 1 CA - that was Jon Shafer. I asked him to give me a price with our options. He responded with the detailed breakdown of the MSRP which included the $5K for the paint. It also had his offer to us under “Invoice” cost with the price for the paint as I stated.

Maybe I just got a special deal since this is my 14th BMW purchased over the last 48 years.

Maybe for some people, but it's still less than a jillion and less than half of a bazillion, soooo....

If you got more than 8% off the total MSRP, then I'd say that's a great deal! About 3 months ago I had a -10% offer (Georgia dealer) on a 45e (Jon was -5%), but decided to go local with a -6% deal ... and then cancelled. I'm not sorry I walked from the 45e, but waiting these months is probably gonna cost me!

You've got some excellent information Auricom. So my question is what if I wanted something like Fire Orange? Is that a hard no from BMW because it's not on the Individual list you mentioned above? Or does that go through a separate review process altogether and maybe even MORE money? Or does that vary by model?

From what I understand it's a select list of colors from the overall Manufaktur paint options and what Plant Spartanburg is currently set up for production. X SAV 490 paint selection will change over time but if you're wanting to go outside that list - might be a sorry but no. Since BMW reviews all of the 490 X SAV paint requests you might never know until you ask - this has been a grey area of understanding for me.

The 490 X SAV paint requests isn't as time consuming as the full Individual Manufaktur program.

From what my dealer mentioned while I was going through the process for my M340i, BMW is only offering the individual paints that are listed and will not approve any other paints.

This is helpful information for sure. Makes me wonder if ANY of the models are able to use the full Individual Manufacture program. Kind of disappointing if you can't.

Any of you guys have recommendations for a dealer who knows what they're doing when it comes to these requests??

Currently Manufaktur Individual is only available on vehicles built in Germany - sedans, coupes, convertibles and gran coupes, since they go through a separate finishing process. Not sure if there would be enough interest to see a ROI.

It also depends on the model and country. When I did my M340i we could only select from the approved list of choices. From the info we got from BMW, it seemed like that was the way all vehicles sold in the US operated.

Hello. E90post convert here. My better half just received her production number so I started poking around the X5 site and found this thread. She went through a mess with the BMW individual paint process but did receive the attached list of the paints available out of Spartanburg for '22 X's 5, 6 and 7. Hopefully the list saves someone else the grief of being told they can have a certain color only to later find find out they cannot, since it is not on The List.

I placed an order for an individual color x5 on June 24. Order status still says: Order Received. Does it eventually go to "Order Approved"? How long did it take for the status to go to "production scheduled" from this point?
