Another Cancelled Order!

This morning I received a telephone call to confirm that Harmon Kardon has been pulled from my build.

My high spec X5 was ordered at the beginning of April with projected build date of October 2021, which was strangely moved to WK 25 (June) and then Wk 23, most probably due to the cancelled orders.

Well I have added mine to the list as I do not want a car without the audio upgrade......Order cancelled!

An October build slot available for an order placed in April? Yes, I know OP is in UK. October is after the MY changeover and April is too early to know the changes that typically begin with August production.

Nevertheless, OP good luck getting it figured out. Sucks when you can't get what you order.

Apparently cars due to be built from week 21 to 26 are impacted by the parts shortage - Harmon Kardon, enhanced Bluetooth and comfort access. After that normal service should resume

Source? I'd heard HK is out for rest of MY21.

I am guessing with so many shortages of the dsirable factory options customers were cancelling which brought some builds forward as was in my case, from October to June?!

I have cancelled as not only was HK not available but wireless charging too.

Here's hoping these issues sort themselves out going into 22MY builds

I have a week 20 build (I think... is week 20 supposed to be done on May 20). I would cancel my order if HK and wireless charging was pulled from my car. How would I know that?

Based on what I've been reading from other posts it looks like your VIN, using a VIN decoder, should indicate whether it comes with the options or not. Is your vehicle already in production? Week 20 is next week and seems like your car should be already (or at least very soon starting to be) in production.

I have a VIN and my car is in "PRODUCTION BEGINS". All the options I asked for appear to be there (premium has wireless charging and Harman Kardon is in the added options). Does that mean that parts have been allocated and I don't have to worry about anything changing at this point?

I think if the car showed up with missing options, you just tell the dealer to keep it for himself simple

Did you dealer indicate the cost of you car will be reduced to consider the lack of HK. I think they did this when air suspension was removed -£700

I don't think you need to worry about anything at this point. Based on how others have described their experience you should be expecting your car to be ready soon (according to the week 20 schedule) and with everything you spec'ed too.

A quick question, after how long did your car status change to production begins after you received your VIN? They seem to happen almost simultaneously?

I didn't have the tech pack on my order, but I was told today by my dealer that the wireless charging will be removed from my build. I asked if my build could be delayed but was told that this will affect model year 22 too.

Just had confirmation my car build is completed. I have a vin but doesn’t work on any vin decoder sites to see if all the options I selected are included. I have asked the genius online chat and they seem to think they are.
Here’s hoping, if not I’ll reject the car too.
I’m UK as well....

Have you tried this one? Worked for me pretty much straight away:

I guess I have cancelled orders to thank. My build got pulled forward a month from the week of 22 June to now. Started production and got a VIN today. Genius says complete by May 22. On my last x5 build it was at my dealer either 11 or 14 days after it started production. Here’s hoping the transporter truck can find fuel 😀

Makes me hopeful...mine is scheduled for week 23. Do you happen to remember how long it took to go from "scheduled for production" to "production begins"?

I don't remember ever seeing production begins without a VIN, but I'm not sure how many days my car was in production begins before I checked on it on the BMW site.
