Front cabin filter, how to change it?
My 2019 has 41K miles and I've never changed any of the cabin filters. Air blows strong suggesting it's not clogged, no smell either. BMW dealership wants a whopping $195 to change the front filter!
Is it easy to change for an old fart? I'm 74 and not too flexible, have screws/rods in my back. |

Edit: I was quoting dealer price, should be able to get it online for $85 or so.

Here are the instructions in case you want to tackle it. It is a very simple job other than keeping your body at the angle. I think dealer techs do it while on a lift.

I am 6'3" 285lbs and I did it myself. I am not flexible at all. Tried yoga once and walked out of the class. That was 10 years ago.

oem filter cost about $80 online
aftermarket ones for about half that. I got this one and fits perfectly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1 Real simple job but you do have to lay on the passenger floor at a weird angle to get to the screws. Not replacing them for this long i'd imagine they are filthy. I did mine after 2 years and they were gross.

You don't have the instructions for the cars fitted with Nano filters do you? I know they are in the same position but wanted to see if the housing is actually different.

I pulled mine at 30k miles. Still clean. Will replace at 40k irregardless of condition. I'm going on 75 and was able to contort enough to do the job but would want to do it on a daily basis.

I haven’t done my cabin filters as of now. I did do this to my MBZ, and that was a real PIA. Almost the same procedure with trying to position your body under the glove box. |

Took my car in for an oil/filter change to a great local service called Quality Lube and Brake. For $89.34 they put in 5W-30 Mobil One, blew out the engine filter and installed the cabin filter FREE! I provided the oil and cabin filters. San Antonio BMW dealershyste wanted to charge me $125 JUST to change out the cabin filters!
Cabin filters were in good shape. I have just shy of 40K on the car, is over 5 years old. |

Your dealer should have changed them under Ultimate Care so they probably are a few years old.
