Anyone know if I can update my iDrive 8 to iDrive 8.5? If so, how do I do it?

Either dealer (during service) or via MyBMW app. I just checked MyBMW and it still shows "No software update available". So we have to wait.

It is currently not possible for you to do it. OTAs are scheduled to start in September so the only option right now is to try and convince your dealer to do it. BMWNA has sent them an SIB stating they will not be paid to do the update unless it is tied to a warranty repair so most dealers will not do the update but some do out of customer goodwill.

A quick little tip/trick I read somewhere (that works) :

When I run into grab my son from daycare I often leave my car running so the cabin stays cool (I know I'll get shammed for this for multiple reasons). Historically when I return to the car it's automatically been turned off, which aggravates me. A little trick to keep my M60i running is to place the vehicle in Park and then slightly rev the engine. After a slight rev you can exit the vehicle and the engine will remain running. It's the small things that this forum is so helpful. Thanks whoever figured this out! (Tried to find the thread to appreciate him/her but was unsuccessful)

Now if there was just a way for it to stop turning off at red lights :/

Thought I read somewhere that I could lower my suspension from the rear tailgate-? (Don’t see the button anywhere)

Assuming they didn't remove it and of course that you have air suspension, the button should be on the lower tailgate right beside the button to open it.

TurtleBoy Ohhhh, so because I have the Adaptive M Suspension Pro I lose that feature? That stinks! Definitely only 1 button on my lower tailgate.

Wouldn't be too worried doesn't make a lot of difference. I have it and am constantly loading fishing tackle in the back but don't use it.

You didn't lose anything. That feature is only available if you get the air suspension option. Without that there is no way that the height can be adjusted since there are steel springs.

I can barely feel my ventilated seats when they're on very-high. (M60i) ...Thinking about asking to sit in another x5 at my dealer to compare. Anyone else out there questioning if they even work? I even tried with no shirt on and wasn't sure if it was working.

The seats in my M60i feel about the same. Never really use this feature so it doesn't matter to me.

I’ve had vented seats on the past 3 or 4 BMWs I’ve had and this is what they are. Think of a small fan in your computer. Close to what is in the seat. It’s meant to remove moisture more than cool. In theory it should prevent you from having a sweaty back while giving very little cool/vent feel.

All in all it’s a regular complaint.

Remember they suck air in rather than blow out. As mentioned above, their purpose is to use evaporation to keep you dry and offer some cooling.

Holy smokes! Didn't know that! No wonder I couldn't feel the air flow! I thought all seats (ventilated or cooled) the air blew out. Thanks TurtleBoy

And absolutely, everything will be sorted under warranty. I just prefer to stay away from dealers as much as possible.
Me too if it goes to the dealer too much I want to get rid of it as soon as possible I cannot stand taking a car to the dealer my 2022 x5 With 10,000 miles has been to the dealer zero times for warranty work Had it been two or three times in 10,000 miles it would be gone by now .

I've had the exact same experience. I was expecting this feature to provide a bit more push/pull of air. I was about to go out with a tissue and see if it was sucked into the seat at all with the ventilated seats. I guess I was expecting too much or just didn't understand what it really meant when I bought the car

I setup my Digital Key tonight on my M60i. Works like a charm and unlocked the doors and started my car all along my phone was in my pocket. Haven't shared access with anyone yet? Is is a 1x use or does the access expire? Heard you can do it via text message, but wondering if anyone has any experience with sharing the access and can speak to it?

Congrats. When I’m driving around town I use my iPhone only and it works like a charm. The key fob stays home. The phone connection is always there and I have used it often since I took delivery of my M60i on 8/22.

You can share access with text/email but the other person needs to have a “wallet” app on their phone to use the shared key. Access is permanent until you revoke it from your side.

A few folks have asked for my build specs for my M60i:

-Skyscraper Grey Metallic
-Black Extended Merino Leather $1,950
-Driving Assistance Pro Pkg $2,100
-M Sport Professional Package $650
-Parking Assistance Package $900
-Executive Package $1,650
-Climate Comfort Package $1,000
-M Sport Package Pro
-22" M Double-spoke Black 742M $1,900
-Adaptive M Suspension Pro $2,200
-Trailer Hitch $650
-Front Massaging Seats $1000
-Anthracite Alcantara Headliner $650

The one rather large option I opted not to go with was the B&W sound system. Couldn't justify the cost as I listen to talk radio. I am very pleased with the Harman Kardon.

Just updated to iDrive 8.5 and it's slightly better than 8.0

Let me know if you have any questions.
