2020 M50i Brake Pad Replacement

Given the previous thread and interest in changing out the blue Brembo M Sport style dusty brake pads on the M50i I went ahead and ordered the following from Rock Auto:

Centric PosiQuiets Semi-Metallic Brake Pads:
104.186801 F $47.99
104.14690 R $24.79
Shipping $13.99 to Hawaii
Total $90.86

After consultation with Centric as well as a mechanic who specializes in European cars I decided to give the semi-metallics a try over the ceramic pads. I was told the bite would be improved and the dust still minimal and still a drastic improvement over the OEM pads.

A good friend lent a hand and we used this tool to assist in the installation of the rear pads:

https://www.jbtools.com/lang-tools-2...RoCcp4QAvD_BwE

I soaked both sets of pads with liquid graphite from BG called Stop Squeal. The front pads do have adhesive on them so it took a bit of prying with flat head screw drivers to separate and remove them, also needed are a set of long punches to remove the pins up front.

Like others have mentioned it took about 2 hours to complete and if you ACTUATE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IMMEDIATELY AFTER completion you won't throw any error messages or codes. For those with 2 axle air suspension your vehicle will be raised to the highest height but after a few minutes and a trip around the block it reverted back to normal.

I can confirm no squealing or clicking with the PosiQuiet set up. Will report back after a few hundred miles.

In my previous experience, centric brake pads were ok when brand new after break in but then suddenly loose grip and wasn't consistent...

Yes dust will be reduced for sure...

If anyone was wondering about the potential benefits for lower dust levels using either the Centric Posi Quiet Semi-Metallics or Ceramic pads here's a handy chart:

Great review

Did you forego the adhesive in the front with the new pads?

Can you explain this a little more? Is it just releasing and setting the parking brake after you complete the service?
