Self-deploying side steps on G05?

Wonder if anyone has given the thought of self-deploying side-steps/running boards a fancy on the G05?

Really enjoyed the experience when I had the chance to try them on the Range Rover (and other Land Rover products). The G05 isn't quite as tall but still not low. It would be much easier to entry and exit if there were self-deploying electric side steps.

I've tried and don't like the fixed running boards - have always found fixed running boards awkward to use as they don't stick out enough to make it a "step", nor are they low enough to make a big difference.

On searching online, there seems to be a few factories in China which purport to make them. Also came across Pegasus4x4 in the UK which seem to do them (https://www.pegasus4x4.com/bmw/bmw-x...-steps-bmw-x5/). Photo in the link is of a GLE but I emailed them and they sent a video of it on a what looks like an F15 previous gen X5. Screencaps below. I realise it's a left hand drive, so video must not have been taken in the UK. China, US, Russia...?

Any experience with any of these after-market mods?

Soo... I guess no one's ever thought about or looked into installing after market self deployable side steps?

Oh well...

Those pretty side skirts would certainly make it even harder. Unless it becomes a transformer and the whole body coloured side skirt extends out to reveal a plastic step on its surface?

This is actually pretty awesome. Especially with the option for them to be discretely hidden until you open the door. Did they give you a quote? I have an F15, although as cool as this is, I sense it will cost an arm and a leg.

Sorry no I didn't ask. A complete random guess but I would expect it to be sub US$3000? Don't know, maybe not. Land Rover 3rd party side steps are around that price, while OEM are double that.

Great add-on. Wanted these for my past F250 Super duty but never got around to it before selling.

They look great! Only difference I think is the X7 was designed for deployable running boards so I wonder if it’s easier to make the fitting work. I’m also cautious as to which local garage would know how to fit these. I don’t have the equipment myself (assuming you’ll need to lift the car up).

Nothing overspecial. All plug and play. Kit includes instruction. Local BMW dealer ilstalled them without any problem.

I'm surprised your local BMW dealer helped you install the side steps you purchased elsewhere. The dealer here would distance themselves at the speed of light.

I found these on Youtube. I've requested a quote to the USA.

I then found these, made in USA. They are not designed or made for the BMW, but it seems that if we could figure out what length we need and then find a compatible domestic truck that is about the same, it could work. I found BMW adapters through another vendor (about $200) to make them automatically deploy when the door opens.

Whether or not all of that will really work could prove to be an expensive experiment.
