I just did a test with my wife's phone and verified that the long press of the microphone button to call Siri for a bluetooth connection is still not available in 03/2019.60. My guess is that those that are saying it is available are using CarPlay and not bluetooth. According to some posts I read the ability to call Siri with a long press on a bluetooth connection was taken away in 03/2019.30.

I am using Carplay. I thought that was given when we discuss Siri in our cars?

I don’t use CarPlay. I just talk to Siri like normal.

So what’s the latest software update we are aware of and what does it fix?

No, we are discussing using Siri through the bluetooth connection. That was working fine with the long press until the 03/2019.xx update. Siri with CarPlay works fine.

Yeah, I just realized there is a version of Siri called "Siri Eyes Free". This must be a completely different feature from Carplay Siri. This is good to know. Will test my car with 03/2019.48 and report back.

03/2019.48 - long press Siri works. I use CarPlay though - don't know if that matters. It only doesn't work when phone sits on a wireless charging pad as it invokes applepay/wallet screen which blocks Siri from working, however closing that screen on an iPhone fixes that issue.

I don't use CarPlay and it stopped working for me with 03/2019.48. It doesn't matter if it's in the cradle or not. It's very frustrating.

I talked to the BMW genius, and it's been removed intentionally from all updates post March 2019. All new cars produced after March and software updates will not have the Siri Eyes Free option, unless connected via CarPlay. The rep did say they removed it to add something else, but wasn't sure if the option would be BMW's software, or perhaps it could be Amazon Alexa.

If the genius knows what he's talking about, this is beyond maddening.

Alexa integration might be coming soon because they already put a banner up in the ConnectedDrive app.

I have seen a July version number mentioned, I think it was 07/2019.39, but have not seen anyone post confirming they have received it.

The dealer installed it yesterday in my M850i. Same idrive7. Did not list what it changes.
