A comfort benefit of the M sport design package, which wasn’t immediately apparent to me, is the leather wrapped steering wheel vs synthetic in the standard design. I had a loaner in the standard design and the steering wheel felt plasticy and made my hands sweat.
Side-note, I believe the multi-contour seats are also an amazing option. Far and away the most comfortable and robust seats I’ve ever had in a car. I don’t even adjust half the settings. Big points for the X5 in the comfort department!

Yeah the seats are very nice. Much more comfortable than the heated/ventillated/massaging seats in my G30.

Completely agree, the seats were a major selling point for me. We take a lot of car trips and they make long days on the road a comfortable experience.

I am missing something here. Are you saying your multi-contour seats with massaging and ventilation are worse than the non-massaging versions?

Yes, that is the prevalent opinion on the multi-contour seats.

Mine are as comfortable as the non massaging or ventilated comfort seats I had on my previous G05's.

I’ve got about 100k miles of butt in the seat experience with my G30 that has the luxury seating (heated/ventillated/massaging). I immediately notice how comfortable my multi contour non-ventillated/non-massaging are in my G05 (Wife’s car) everytime I get in it.

Only thing chalked it up to was maybe less room for padding if your jamming in all the messaging and ventilation hardware into the seat? At times I like using the ventilation but I don’t find the massaging very useful for me. I know others that swear by it.

There’s a thread for the first gen G05 in Merino leather which explained the perforated ventilated seat centers are not in Merino even if you order the Merino package (most people would expect the entire seat would in Merino if you’re paying for it). Theory was that the leather needed to be stiffer so it wouldn’t rip when it was machine perforated and air blew through. Some explained that’s also why the non-ventilated seats are more comfortable, and your observation about the massage and ventilated hardware taking up room is what I’ve heard a lot of. I guess that’s why they say YMMV though as everyone will have a different personal gauge for comfort!

And that is the beauty of it! It does not matter how many ass miles you have, your experience is yours and yours only. I find the luxury seating quite luxurious and great on long roadtrips.

I am the only person who doesn't like the multi-contour seats on the G05. They are narrower at the top of the back than the standard sports seats. I am tall with wide shoulders and they do not work for me.

The F15 seats were awesome.

It’s funny - that was my prevalent thought after I traded my ‘20 with Sport seats in on a ‘22 with multi-function seats with ventilation and massage. Two weeks later we left for a 5 week 7,200 mile road trip, and about halfway through I finally got the seats dialed in. Yes, they’re firmer than the Sport seats.

Still - when the dealer put me in a ‘24 loaner with sports seats last week, my reaction was “these seats are so uncomfortable! When can I get my car back?” So, some of that may be what we’re used to…..

Just exclude the massage option if you can and keep the ventilation. I butt tested all g05 with and wothout merino. Was easy to find because i am one of the few who left out massage and have merino with vent. I can confirm for me that merino without massage and vent felt the most comfortable. Merino with vent and massage not as comfortable. Vent really helps if it is not super cold in your car already. I dont like to have the aircon set to work too cold. All said above is from my own experience and I invested a lot of time
In this, even paid extra to exclude massage as it was part of a package and had to order all the other options from
The package separately. good luck to all of you!

That was definitely the case for me. In my 7-series (G11) I had the multi-contour seats (known as "comfort seats" in my country), while my brother had identical seats in his 5-series (G30), with the exception that his didn't have the massaging. Both cars had ventilation

Much to my dismay, I much (MUCH) preferred the seats in my bro's car - they had more padding, felt "beefier" and generally more supportive/comfortable than in my car. Mine made an impression of a cheap imitation of the proper seats my bro had

You'd be excused to think that seats in a 7-series should be better (whatever it means) in every guise when compared to "lesser" models (7 series >> 5 series; right?). Life, it seems, works in its own ways and makes things more complex than that

Lesson learnt, and for my X5 I ordered non-massaging seats (I had no option to drop the ventilation, so that's retained) and am super happy with the outcome. Seats are meaty, supportive, comfortable and put a smile on my face every time I drop my 180 lbs into them

Both great posts guys. I commented on a different thread as well that was recently posted with some great information on this topic. This definitely can help other persons as I was looking into all this a bit ago while trying to figure out how to spec our X5. These posts do that.
