FYI, there is a small resonator on the M Sport Exhaust. If you look at my picture in another thread, you can see it at the top of the tube on the right of the box.

snickryder thanks! So it looks like the M Performance Exhaust (what you have) - has a smaller resonator. Where as the M Sport Exhaust (on the 40i M Sport), has a huge resonator/muffler in the front pipe. I wonder what the differences in the muffler are - do you have any info about that?

After some research, I think the best course of action for me, is to grab a catted downpipe (because I plan to do that anyway), and hear how that sounds. And then, if wanting more sound, explore removing the front muffler/resonator on the M Sport Exhaust. Resonator deletes are cheap as chips.

I really have enjoyed the m-performance exhausts on my 2 F10 535's and even though this is a much more expensive upgrade on the X5, I will probably set my credit card on fire and go for it at some point. It just sounds so good.

Ok heres the stuffs i found out.

On my car is the m sport exhaust that came with it.
The center muffler is big and thats bringing down the flow.
On the floor is a set of M Perf system.

M perf muffler is smaller by probably 20%.
The pipes on the M perf are bigger dia (didnt measure) but reckon also ard 20%.
Both mufflers seems hollow and not densely packed.
The center muffler of the M perf, is small and thats probably why it sounds beast.

IMHO, if you have a M Sport muffler, jz cut up the center muffler of that, put in a straight perforated pipe, and packed it back densely, it should sound way better with the flap opened.

Whats on the car in the photo above is a msport system? If I have a single inlet pipe, its a standard non msport exhaust?

You will also get a nicer sound by removing the resonator - circled in pic.
