Apple vs. Android
Might sound super ironic but does anyone know why BMW supports Apple Car play and not Androids but then turns around and gives a Digital Key for Androids but not iPhones? Seems like they'd support either one or the other or both. Kinda crazy since I have an iPhone and would love a digital key in Connected Drive.

Supposedly BMW didn't like the privacy policy with Android Auto but who knows. Evidently things were worked out since Android Auto will be available starting in July.

I have a feeling that Apple will require you to have an UWB chip in the phone to work. I have no idea what's inside the G05, but would it be possible that this is a requirement?

There are many ironies in owning a BMW.
You need one type of phone to open the car and another to display on the screen. Don't all BMW drivers own 2 phones? Hopefully will be fixed later this year when iDrive 7 begins to support Android. Then we can all dump the buggy iPhone interface..... |

Very much like Car Play, there is little reason to expect Android Auto implementation you be either well-designed or bug-free at release ... modern software is in perpetual beta.
