Manual Lower Tailgate?
I abandoned a prior order for 45e when HK Surround Sound became available. I just got my new build sheet and see the following on a mostly loaded 45e:
32W Manual Lower Tailgate N/C Is this a new option casualty? On balance, I am still pleased with the tradeoff (and happy to be getting HK). |

Yikes... About to pick mine up from PCD next week, going to see if that hit me. As far as I know, I just had the iDrive Controller delete.

I think you're ok because your vehicle went into production before the casualty. you can always check your build sheet or use a VIN decoder to check in the mean time

That is unfortunate, but I will say I found the manual lower tailgate quite satisfying to operate on my F15 X5. It's hard to know what exactly was so appealing about it, (I could just be a weirdo ), but I wouldn't abandon an order based on this loss.

I always liked the manual tailgate on my F85. I now seem to hit the power button on the lower tailgate when I lean across the tailgate edge; it could be up or down and for some reason I always manage to get it. This wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

I have been wondering if there is space to design and print an adhesive raised edge around the lower tailgate buttons. That could help avoid the accidental activations. Must take a closer look.

If the bottom is manual, what happens if you have both top and bottom open and touch the “close” button on the top? Presumably nothing?
There is a point at which I will have to question whether the things that remain outweigh those that are gone on my as-yet-to-be-built order. |

That is a good question. I'm interested as well. Will have to get an update on my build sheet as I just added Harmon Kardon too.

If I remember correctly from my F15, the top will close and leave the bottom open. That way you can have things like lumber sticking out the back if necessary. It wouldn't surprise me if the G05 does the same thing but obviously I don't know. I could be wrong about the F15 too, as it was not something I routinely did.

That's fascinating. Is it possible to have a top-closed/bottom-open configuration with the power lift gate? It didn't even occur to me. I actually do haul lumber from time to time so that'd be intriguing.

Confirmed. It changed today per my dealer.
32W Manual Lower Tailgate -$150.00 Oh well. Hoping they'll have this option added back by the time it goes into production.

This is total bull $h!t if true. I don’t think the trunk closes unless the lower tailgate is shut first, correct? Going manual on the lower tailgate is a massive inconvenience, and I’d like to think I would reject the vehicle if they surprised me upon delivery.

Absolutely ridiculous, really. Similar for the fogs.
Just checking to see if anything changed on the build for my m50i with a prod date of 4-8. No deletions there or when speaking with Genius last Wednesday. I've had a power tailgate since 2010 on LR4s and X5s. Found essential to have open automatically lettering our dog now jump in without catching the rear bumper. Getting out no issue. Getting in, we'll have to pay closer attention and won't be able to open the hatch in advance before your hands are full with the kick disabled for those of us with a toe hitch. It the kick feature works in other territories, so stupid it can't work here. |

How did you find out? Assuming yours is still on order and scheduled for production? What model?

Is this missing feature just temporary? Just like touchscreens??
That’s the feeling I’m getting. They got short of parts and had to keep the production going Or could be ala fog lights |
