Drop-in engine air filter advice.
Hey guys, what’s the consensus on drop in air filters for the x5 40i xdrive? K&N or BMC ?
I may end up doing the race chip or JB4 (whichever is simpler). Thanks in advance. |

Those aftermarket air filters just let in larger particles which isn't good for the engines longevity. But some people like them for the added intake sound.

Poor filtration, filter oil mass flow air sensor contamination, having to clean the filter every 10k miles (optimistically) for no power gain and a tiny bit more noise? If yo tune for it, there may be a horsepower or two to be found at the redline. Is it really worth it?
