I had been wondering about this as the front windows on my X6 seem noticeably slower than any of my previous cars. I was wondering if it was because I had them tinted and the tint was causing a drag against the rubber sealing strip on the inside, although I’ve had tinted windows on almost all of my cars for over 35 years and never had a problem before.

You would really have to think that you would actually read the posts/threads and put some thought into the situation before spouting off. The window speed is the same between the acoustic and non-acoustic glass. We all understand that you are here to troll and not have an adult conversation but try to be a little mature once and awhile since your schtick is getting old.

I’m wondering if there’s some innate benefit to these molasses motors. Maybe BMW did it for longevity purposes, assuming slower motors last longer. Or maybe they did it simply to ever-so-slighty reduce the power draw in some regulatory attempt to improve fuel efficiency and emissions by a few milliliters…

I really doubt that I am the only guy on this forum who would question as to whether the thickness, coatings, etc., of the "acoustic glass" could contribute to this problem. |

Bugs me too, hence the use of the feature :-). It's like the HHGTTG Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses for forums.

I own a 2021 X5 M50i with no problems at this time and windows which raise and lower rapidly. Sorry if you are having a problem with yours. Can't imagine why this would cause you such distress. Have you considered taking your X5 to a BMW dealer and having your problem rectified? Good luck. |

Glad to hear that your windows function normally as mine do. I really can't imagine what you are so upset about. Sorry if I offended you in any way. |

2020 G05, acoustic glass side to side. After extensive laboratory testing just now, mine averages 4.6s up and down, parked, button-push to motor stop. Seems plenty fast to me. And from the sound of the motor, I would suspect it wouldn't make any difference what kind of glass there was - it's gonna open or close. I didn't test the pinch feature, because if it didn't work it sounds like it will absolutely guillotine whatever's in there.

So this is a thing! I better time mine next time hahaha
But yes, it's painstakingly slow compared with anything else I've driven (other than a hand-wound window... maybe), and sometimes misses my 'gesture' to close. Particularly annoying when I'm used to winding down the window 1 car space from reaching parking lot boom gates to collect a ticket, or at toll booths. End up sitting there waiting or awkwardly trying to reach my arm out of the window from the upper half of the window opening while it continues to wind down... sighs... |

i rarely open or close the windows except to get a parking ticket and such. I also noticed its very slow compared to my F15. But I'm never in that much of a rush to open or close the windows anyway. And the window motor makes this oddly satisfying sound that i've never heard in any other vehicle.

Mine is very slow too, although I got the acoustic glass too. It is a feature that surprised me the first times I experienced it, I was approaching a parking entrance, then I had to roll down the window like 100m before to not have to wait to get the ticket!
I have had 6 BMWs before this and is by far the slowest.

They are actually slower than other BMW's I've had but I think it's reasonable. Don't forget it's also a big window so it might take a bit more time to close from end to end.
