He wouldn't be effected by that. The bug that caused the battery drain was introduced in S18A-22-07-550 to S18A-22-11-531.

I have coded ASS and wouldn’t want to lose it, plus I hope to have Anti Dazzle coded in the near future.

yeah, then definitely don't upgrade to 03/2023.xx or higher, but you may want to edit your previous post to say "...the current 2023 update breaks ASS coding ability with BC" because it's just one code that's known to be affected, not all codes as your original statement implies

iOS and app updates have changed some of the options, so with the latest, the defaults should be adequate to get the software to be transferred. Now, if you never update your phone or the app, you'd need to look carefully at things and maybe adjust.

I was in the similar situation. I have 2020 X5. Warranty was expiring in sept 2023. Right before that I took the car in for service for 2 reasons. 1. Car was having trouble with cold start 2. The 2023.50 software had been downloaded and transferred to car 2 times but it would not initiate despite of following the instructions correctly.
I tried to trickle charge the car to full but no luck. The service center said they couldn’t replicate cold start problem and for software update I will have to pay 300. The transmission recall mentioned in the software is not really a recall so it’s not covered under warranty and connected drive people were no help. Fast forward to this winter month car started giving me problems with cold start again. Multiple booster break related warning and engine stalling on start. I trickle charged 12 hours every day by Noco5. Everyday morning it will go to full charge and start ok but when I return in the evening trickle charger starts from the lowest. So I knew there was something wrong battery. Earlier this month the software update was loaded for the 3rd time to the car but wouldn’t initiate. Not even after charging the battery to fullest. Yesterday the battery died completely in the afternoon. Car wouldn’t start. All the drivetrain warnings came but no warning related to car’s battery. I jump started my X5. Took it to the dealer. They changed the battery. Despite of being 3 months past warranty expiration BMW covered the 90% of the battery cost and I paid 10%. The 10% was towards keeping the battery warranty. As soon as I got in the car software installation initiated. And few minutes later it got completed and now I have 2023.50. Only thing they did was change the battery. So yes I strongly think now all of those who have installation issue must have dying battery. Normally it should last 6-7 years but mine have up in 5 years. The car didn’t even give warning that it needs replacement. But all the signs point to that and changing the battery solve the installation problem. Try this if you are having issue with initializing the install. Good luck! |

Got the same problem here. My 2019 X5 has currently a 2020 software, I've downloaded and transferred the 11/2023.50 to the car, but the installation never started. I have manually charged the car battery to full twice, still nothing even with the charger connected to power. I do not feel that the battery is dead, all the electronics work pretty well, I would be disgusted to pay 300 euros for that.

If you have a nearby dealership make an appointment with the genius who can likely provide some expertise.

You have the ASS button so that is different. Did you code ASS off or to remember the last state?

I have the ASS button but I cannot code it off anymore. It would only remember for 15mins instead of indefinitely. Also, I cannot code "remember last drive mode forever" either. This is true for 07/2023 and 11/2023. Looks like BMW just removed the "remember forever" part.
