"F12" Process Instructions and Videos

The “F12” process allows us to look at the data behind the MyGarage screen in order to find, among other things, the production date and the option codes tied to the build. The production date (prodDate) is filled in once the build hits the Production Begins (150) status. This process can be done in Safari and Chrome (perhaps other browsers but have not seen examples of that). Since every once and awhile folks have trouble with the process I updated the instructions and created a couple of videos that hopefully will help.

Chrome:
  1. Log into MyBMW and go to the main MyGarage page
  2. Right-Click and choose Inspect
  3. Click on Network and then Fetch/XHR
  4. Refresh the page and wait until it has completed
  5. Click on the first forward…. entry to get the data
* If you don't see any data, make sure you are on the Response tab.

Safari:
  1. Go into Settings/Advanced and enable Show Develop menu in menu bar
  2. Log into MyBMW and go to the main MyGarage page
  3. Right-Click and choose Inspect Element
  4. Click on Network and choose XHR/Fetch from the dropdown
  5. Refresh the page and wait until it has completed
  6. Click on the first forward entry to get the data

Special thanks to Gene for allowing me to use his VIN without going through the hassle of trying to blur it.

Garage List
2024 BMW X5 50e  [0.00]
Thanks, TurtleBoy.

One clarification, because it took me a bit to figure this out, “main MyGarage page” means before clicking on the image of your vehicle. You don’t get to the dev screen you want if you’ve clicked the vehicle image or the Track Status link.

I must have done F12 every day for like a month — can’t believe I get to pick it up in a few days!

Hi Turtle Boy,
I tried this. I am still in scheduled for production. Can I read anything in the tea leaves (code) at this point? Or only in production? Right now looks like hieroglyphs 😝
Thanks

Yes, you can see all of the option codes tied to your build. That really isn't too important at this time since they are not deleting features/parts of options like they have done at times in the past.

Here is a list to many of the option codes. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=720

Thank you so much! When people talk about status 112, 150 etc are they seeing it here or in my garage once it starts production?

The status code is in that data but people generally use the code rather than the description that shows on the MyGarage page since it is easier plus the code shows on the VIR that many get from their dealer. Here is a list of the order codes and their descriptions.

VINs are assigned when you go into the Production Begins (150) status. All of the details of your build should be there now the only data item that will be added when you get a VIN is the production date.

What is Status Code 200? I don't see that code listed on the sheet of Order Codes.

TourtleBoy, since you are omniscient, do you know from code 165 if there are other codes before 195 that must be activated for delivery to Europe from the United States? My dealer can't give me any information if he's on a ship or still at the Charleston port

That is web server http response codes.

You went one page too far (dont click track status >) on the Mygarage. Do the inspect > Network CTRL+R on the first page.

Try it again.

Edit: OK, so I tried it in Safari and it worked, (Status code 112), suspect it must be a cookie issue in Chrome, I will clean them out later. Thanks.

I did not click Track Status;
I did Right Click and clicked on Inspect;
then clicked on Network at the top of the page and did a page refresh

What should I click on from here?
(I'm fairly certain I followed the instructions / YouTube video....)

It should be At the Port - In Transit - At the Port - In Transit - At the Dealership as far as I know.

That was what I clicked on and the results was the first screen shot I posted.

Interestingly, doing it in Safari the line is just "Forward".

Ok, I looked again. You did everything right.

I use Chrome and Safari too. Normally after you hit Refresh after Network and click on (i) forward?, it automatically defaults to Response where you can see your order Status Code. In your page, it shows Headers instead. So right page but wrong tab I guess.

You must be on the wrong page/tab. Clicking on the first forward will give you the data. Just follow the steps listed above and/or the video and you will be fine. Post or send me your VIN if you continue to have problems.

Edit: I didn't realize you posted your production number above, here is your data in Chrome. Make sure you are on the correct screen, tab and that you have waited until the refresh completes prior to accessing the data.

Update #2 thanks to Turtleboy and Johnonroad I figured out what was wrong when I was using Chrome to check on my (previous) production. When in Chrome the response didn’t default to the “Response” tab as it did in Safari, Chrome defaulted to “Headers”, once I clicked on the “Response “ tab I saw the information I needed. Thanks again guys.

The production number posted above is no longer my production though.
