Something strange happening with the front bumper vents. Starting to give me vibes of I will probably prefer the looks of the regular X5 with M performance parts than the actual X5M when it comes out.

Ugh... as a current F85 owner, they need to put a PROPER rear caliper on that matches the front. Drives me nuts having a massive 6-piston front and a normal "Toyota Camry" looking rear caliper, especially on a $110k+ vehicle. Mercedes and Porsche both have rear calipers that are fully covered and match the fronts...

Is it just me, or are BMW grilles getting unnecessarily big?

I have the same feelings, not really a fan of the direction they go with the new designs.....but let's wait and hope, maybe they will look good once they're revealed :

The most recent spy shots look very promising. The X5 will continue to be the best all-rounder in its class.

BMW has gone from angel eyes, to 3/4 of an eye, to half an eye with this latest spy shot. Pretty soon we'll have no lights.

Also I think those massive kidney grilles just look awful.

Or hopefully we will get used to it with time, because I doubt they will change their design in this generation.

Agree with the other comments regarding:

-Grill size is huge
-Why are we losing DRL space
-Rear brakes on the X5M need to look like they fit the vehicle
-PLEASE fix and remove the School Bus brake squeal

I'm all for changes and improvements, but with some things (DRL's for one) if it's not broken, don't fix it!

Has any consensus developed as to when we will be able to go to our BMW dealer and purchase this next generation X5 M?

I believe the current platform is slotted to go out of production this summer. As I recall, there has historically been a roughly one year gap between the platform ending production and the new generation M model becoming available.

Was at the dealer yesterday for service. My CA says they will know more in June. We agreed that the next gen X5M is probably not coming this fall but he is holding out hope that it will come early. Timing not looking good for me.

That timing thing rears its' head more frequently than not. I'm not sure of the details on the new x 5 5.0 vs the new X5 M vs timing. The M is of higher interest to me but Fall of 2019 may be too long a wait.

I guess this was a question that nobody has the answer for yet. My best guess is that the new X5 will be at dealers around October 2018 and the X5 M around April 2019 - who really knows.

So, enough deliberation on my part already - I'm tracking down an allocation for a 2018 X5 M - probably a two year lease - and we'll enjoy that and see what is next. I hope to take delivery in June.

Not at all! It's not just design but truly a whole new platform.

I have an '07 and never felt the need to upgrade since it was basically the same. Not anymore!
Now, can I wait a whole year for the X5M or get a M50 at launch....

Jesus, that thing is FLYING. It doesn't even have the tire roar typical of these videos. Very impressive.
