Hi there, just got a 2021 x5 sdrive black with m sport package and 22" rims.

i was thinking of debadging the "s-drive" and 4.0i and replacing it with the M badge. The x5 badge on the leftside stays.

what do you guys think? tacky? is this something to be frown upon or is it okay? i'm not trying to be the real M50 competition, i just like the way the m badge looks by itself on the right side.

thoughts?

and is it true that if you debadge, you void your warranty?

De-badging will not void the warranty. Tacky? That's an understatement. You're making your car look like something it's not and of course you don't have the M aesthetics so a real BMW aficionado will see through it. What you do is a reflection on you. Your choice of course.

Don't do that. Just keep the badges on it like it is from the factory. Be proud of it and own it. I agree with the other. Tacky, yes but the final choice is yours.

You do you. However If I were to do such a thing, I'd buy the x3 m40i badge and use the m40i part. If you had the m sport pack and threw a stage 1 tune on... not so far off. Still anyone who knows enough to care will roll their eyes at you.

For the M60i, I am already considering to swap the front grille to one from 40i, so that it comes with no ///M badge on it.

About voiding the warranty when debadging, i saw that on google when i was searching on how to debadge. I found it odd that it said that and that's why i asked.

Let me put it to you this way. Putting an M badge on an s35i is like stuffing a cucumber in your pants to appear well more endowed.

I feel the same way about that as I do the people that would buy those BMW front license plates. It’s so tacky and won’t fool anyone who knows even a little bit.

Call me old-fashioned but I don’t believe in using a car to signal some sort of socioeconomic status.
