"slit" on X5 Steering Wheel for Air Bag
Hi all,
I am the proud owner of a 2024 BMW X5 50e and I am thinking of upgrading the steering wheel cover and paddle shifters from the stock ones to the fancy Carbon Fibre ones (OEM#s below): - Set Of Shift Paddles 613011 - BMW (61-31-2-455-282) - Steering Wheel Cover Leather/Carbon - M Performance (32302459670) However, as I inspected the steering wheel, I noticed these little "cut marks" on the side of my stock steering wheel: I did some googling and it seems these slits are to remove the Air Bag. This seems odd. Why would BMW make a slit like this in a new vehicle? Is the "slit" an indication of vandalism? Is this "slit" on all new X5s? |

That is normal and used for releasing the air bag. There was like a repair or adjustment done in QC.
