My xc90 lease will be up early next year. It’s mostly been a good car, but I won’t be getting another one.
I chose the xc90 because it looked good, had a great interior, great tech, it is well packaged (good interior ******* and i needed a family hauler. What I hadn’t realized is how important to me it is to have a car that I enjoy driving. The xc90 driving experience doesn’t hold a candle to the f15 I came from, and certainly not to the g05. The engine, the handling, the ride and the general feeling of solidity are way behind bmw. Those things won’t be important to everyone, and if they’re not, the Volvo is an excellent choice. For me though, even if a comparably specced x5 was $30k more than an xc90, I’d take the bmw every time. |

I seriously considered x90 because of the amazing safety record of the 1st gen x90(a such old design passed the lastest small-overlap collision test when that standard just came out, which all BMW at that time that probably was 10 years newer design failed). I thought it would be good choice as a family car. But then came the 4 cylinder only new X90. No way I am buying a 60K car with 4 cylinder, 2 liters, just no way. I always wonder how many orders Volve lost because of this silly 4 cylinder decision.
