Are there no parts shortages? Just read this other post, someone just took delivery and PAP was deleted. A June order, but still…

There are all types of parts shortages/supply chain issues, that is why we are seeing the frequent movement of production dates.

Indeed. I sure don't envy the role of the BMW supply chain / production manager folks in these times.

Random question - does anyone know if Spartanburg does different models in batches or if all models are being produced all the time?

I ask because it seems like many of the X5 orders are clustered in certain weeks. So, I'm wondering if any further slippage beyond Week 44 goes to the next week, or possibly several weeks later to the next week X5s are on the schedule

All models are being produced all of the time. There are different assembly lines for different product groups.

I have H&K and my build actually moved up a week. Pretty much all the boxes checked except Merino and Climate Package.

Same as Jiggie. My build has HK sound. Never moved back from original build week 37. Ended up moving up a few days to later half of week 36.

My build was pushed out to week 43. Ugh. I don't want to risk this getting pushed back even further and jeopardize the $7,500 fed tax credit. The BMW genius is saying early December for delivery to California (assuming build date doesn't change again). Thoughts anyone?

I'm facing a similar situation (wk 42) and someone mentioned thinking about doing PCD to avoid the 4+ week delivery to Ca(granted you'd still have to transport the car back).

Week 43 is week of October 24. Give the 4-5 weeks from dispatched from factory, factor in Thanksgiving holiday, early December is reasonable. Even if you’re unlucky and hit a week in QC, I think you’ll be ok. If it pushes further out by 3 weeks, then, as suggested in another thread, consider PCD and deal with shipping the car back vs losing out on the tax credit.

Wait and see? What's your realistic best alternative / Plan B?

It will be interesting to see if in early Jan a bunch of folks decline their delivery resulting in a brief surge in dealer inventories. Something tells me most people will just bite the bullet though - tough to throw in the towel and start the game over when you're at the 99 yard line.

For us - I would be interested to look at used X3 plug in as a temporary hold over until supply chain things ease up and more BEVs are released. The 45e was always going to be 2-3 year stopgap solution vehicle for us anyways.

But honestly we would probably just bite the bullet and take delivery, even without the $7500. Interested to hear what others are thinking…

I could play the "what if" it's delayed longer and now I'm really pushing 12/31. The BMW Genius I spoke with said it would take a while by train. there's so many variables that I'd rather not risk delivery. I agree there could be a ton of vehicles come Jan 1.

Well, lucky me I found a dealership that has a similarly optioned X5 that will be delivered to their dealership in two weeks. Granted it's about 3.5k more than the one I've ordered. However, BMW literally just started a $1k incentive for the next several days (Autumn Event) that will defray some of my costs.

So the reason you are afraid that Week 43 might not make it by EOY is because 43-44 is already too late or mainly cause there is longer transport times to West coast / CA? Asking cause based on multiple postings on avg everyone gets delivery within 1 month of PD

I'm concerned of the risk that it gets delayed to further, issues in in transit, gets stuck in QC, or for some other unforeseen reason. I understand the multiple posts on timing that it "should" be here in time. Not "afraid" that it won't be here if it's in production week 44. I found another option so I'm going with better odds.

Oh I missed this post. So someone actually has a 45e coming in and not a custom order for someone? Wow what are the odds and moreover he is not marking it up!

I will just cancel my order if I can't take delivery this year and rather get LCI Model next year. My current vehicle is a 21'X5 so can wait.

Well, that was hopefully short-lived. As of this morning, I'm back to 112 status and BMWG just said I'm back to a week 40 production.

Interesting the back and forth. I am also back to "Scheduled for Production" but I have not called Genius. I may just wait for a production date and the move to 150... this week or in a month.
